From where I was sitting it appeared to me that it was a typically officiated Pac-10 game...
Other than that....bring on Arizona State
I hear you...in other words a poorly-officiated game
No-call penalties are never an excuse for losing, it just frustrated the hell out of me. I didn't watch the USC oline as closely, but I'm sure there were plenty of no-calls on them as well.
Our kids are poorly coached by the assistants which is evidenced in a lack of key fundamentals, namely:
- Poor/non-existent blocking by the wide receiver position
- DB's not even turning to look for the ball
- Dumbfuck personal fouls
Nothing more to say. Carroll is a great coach but the guy needs to check his ego at the door and hire a strong offensive coordinator
and hand over the keys. He's been trying to do it all by himself, with a staff that still wears diapers. He needs a guy
like a Chow who is smart enough and experienced enough to run the show on offense, and Pete needs to let the guy do his job. If Pete sticks to defense we will be OK.
Coaches that need to go:
- Rocky Seto - might wanna teach DB's to turn for the ball.
- Nick Holt - a worthless gopher who doesn't get down on the players.
- Steve Sarkesian - too young for Pete to ever trust with control. probably a good future for him but not when he's handcuffed by a HC.
- Brennan Carroll - aka Spalding. the kid needs to move somewhere else because he doesn't add much...at all.
The most dominant SC teams during Pete's tenure had assholes on the coaching staff. Chow...prick. Orgeron...prick. Kennedy Pola...prick. Say what you want about those guys and where they are today...but what these five star kids need is a reality check and the coaches mentioned above delivered it on day one in practice. We don't have hardasses like this on the staff anymore...and our kids need them / would benefit by it. If Pete's gonna continue to play the good copy role, he needs more bad cops.
Also - would be nice if Pete hired a special teams coach. That has been a sore spot on the squad since he came in. Maybe Pete takes that role over once he turns over the offense lock-stock-and-barrel to someone else.
I think the slide in our program is about coaching, and more specifically Pete's ego. He hasn't seen much in the way of failure during his tenure, and I think he's running the program not to fail, instead of running it to win
at the risk of failing.
I'm not one of the emotional
Fire Pete Carroll guys that you're seeing at various meltdown sites across the internet, but I am pissed about his decisions as it relates to the staff. Good managers don't have a problem with guys smarter than them working
for them. It should always be about winning - results are more important than the personal bullshit I think he's got stuck in his head.
I think he'll dump a good number of folks from the staff this offseason. If he does this, I think the kids and the program will be much better-served.
Fight on...and congrats to the Ducks. Go kick the shit out of ASU.
