Here's the Cliff Notes on what will happen:

- They will settle on $250,000.
- Reggie Bush will pay $125,000.
- USC will pay $125,000.
- Terms of agreement will be sealed.
- NCAA looks the other way...still.
- USC to be ranked in top 3 preseason 2008.

If you are Miles Brand, how do you justify this? One way or the other you look bad. You go after USC and actually punish them you take away what was a great run. If you don't, you look like an ass for ignoring something that sure looks like an issue.

Sky,

Who gives a fuck if they take away what was a great run? How many other instances of USC "looking the other way" were not caught. That's the point.

And before anyone brings in the "everyone does it" argument. Not everyone gets caught. And that is what you should be punished on. Getting caught. Everyone will get theirs for cheating eventually. Right now, it's USC's turn. THe NCAA can drop the hammer or tuck tail and run. My money would be on the latter, unfortunately.

Well, here is my point. Brand is a piece of shit IMO but this has to be a hard spot. Do you uncover a stain revealing the last few years of college football were tainted or do you ignore it (i.e. Tennessee) and move on and hope the conspiracy theorists do less damage than admitting to the truth. I would hope he chooses to truly pursue the issue in hopes that it prevents some future instances but I doubt that will happen.

I personally think USC should get nailed, especially when it was so blatent--and it far outweighs players "working" at a car wash.

You uncover it and administer consequences, which will one day prevent someone else from doing something similar. If stuff like this goes unpunished then where is the detractor from anyone doing it again. If you punish then maybe one or two schools or some folks think twice about doing this crap.

I agree it is very important to keep up the facade that this is an amateur sport.

I agree with the intent and desire, but I don't really believe it works. The faces change and the details change but teams just find new ways to cheat. How many schools have been nailed for players who "work" at a carwash and get paid $30 an hour? I think the only option is to punish USC if they have the evidence. However, I don't really believe it is going to solve the problem.

When you have greedy donors who want to be a part of the program, programs who are willing to ignore or avoid certain issues, and young athletes who want the lime-light, you are going to have failures.

Not to stick up for CFB's version of "the Evil Empire" or anything, but has there been any evidence whatsoever that USC knew this was going on? Would it be that hard to believe that Carroll and his staff had no knowledge of Bush's parent's living situation 120 miles away from campus? Is it a coach's or university's responsibility to investigate the living situation of not only all of their players, but also their players' immediate family?

It certainly looks like Bush fucked up, but I don't see how so many of you can make the leap that USC was complicit in the whole thing.

It's all just rumor and speculation at this point, but rumor has it that Reggie showed up at practice sporting pimped-out car, offering rides, and rumor has it that Petey saw it with his own two (blind) eyes.

That would be a "lack of institutional control."

And if wannabe agents were allowed in the locker room after the games, as claimed, then there's something extremely fishy going on, and Carroll has little room to wiggle out of it.

Just a matter of whether there's solidarity in the ranks, or if people start tossing each other under the bus to save their skins. Should be some good theater either way.

The NCAA is making too much money from roping in borderline/casual fans in recent years. I give USC's resurgence much of the credit for the increased popularity of CFB these days. The NCAA is better served financially by sweeping it under the rug, sad to say.

OUr Atheletic department and BRSI now look like raging morons for cooperating with the NCAA. :(

I'm not condoning what BRSI, Bomar, and Quinn did but it does piss me off that monetarily it pales in comparrisson to what Bu$h and U$C have obviously gotten away with here...

The Bu$h family was from a poor area of San Diego originally and suddenly he was pimping a fully tricked out brand new Impala and you don't think that U$C knew anything? Pffffft.

Bush's mom and step dad both worked for the CDOC as prison guards, a position that starts its employees at 70,000 a year.... thats a fact

Bush grew up and went to High School in Spring Valley, the house that his family supposedly upgraded to was in Spring Valley and less than a mile from the other home that they had owned and were living in for several years... fact

USC has open practices 3 or 4 days a week at Howard Jones Field, they do not ask if the spectators are agents and they do encourage the players to talk to the fans, especially the kids. They do not open the locker room to anyone who is not on the team or staff... fact

This Lake guy was a prisoner at the prison Reggies stepfather worked at and was in prison as late as October of Reggies sophomore year, in his lifetime Lake had not earned 300,000 dollars yet he is saying that he gave Lamar Griffen 300 grand so that Reggie would sign with him when Reggie turned pro... fact

Reggies "tricked out" car was a 10 year old American sedan that is no more tricked out than Darren Mcfaddens Crown Vic... fact

Darren must be taking money from convicts who want to represent him after his junior year as well... speculation, much like the shit I am reading on here.

Uh, I went ahead and forwarded this to Miles Brand and the NCAA. I think this should put an end to any investigation regarding Mr. Bush and USC. I only wish you had resolved this issue for us days ago so that we didn't have to waste all this time debating. Thanks again for your time and dedication, bitch.

When our Board Bitch produces a post with more than 10 sentences, assume that at least 8 of them contain mis-information, fallacies, non-truths, hyperbole, and other board-bitch award winning material.....
