It might not matter much in Denver but it is a big deal over here. The Lions are in playoff contention and Dre Bly's return...it's been a few years since I've actually had a chance to get excited about a game at this point in the season.

The Lions are pretty healthy going into the game. Calvin Johnson might have re-aggrevated his back injury from earlier in the season in the game last week against Chicago. I'd imagine he'll play though.

I'm still not a fan of the personnel on defense but somehow this has been a very good unit at forcing turnovers. It's actually been the running game and the opportunistic defense carrying them to the last two wins...not the passing attack. The Broncos should be able to move the ball on this defense but they need to avoid turnovers. The Broncos aren't great at getting after the QB but the offensive line still needs to focus on giving Kitna time to throw and to open up the run game for Jones and Duckett.

The '07 Lions have won ugly and I like them at home this week to win another ugly game and keep the pressure on the Packers in the North...

I don't think either defense will do much to stop the other team.
Difference will be that Dungver will stop itself a couple o' few times.

I'm predicting Denver's rush defense ( ) will definitely hold Kevin Jones under 200 rushing yards.....

bold-sure it is-but I'm a rebel that way....

Can't complain too much about that first half. I would've liked to see another TD scored rather than settling for three FGs. Very efficient offense with them scoring in all four possessions and Denver's offense has been very quiet. The Lions gift-wrapped a scoring chance for them on that silly onside attempt but thankfully Elam hit the upright.

Harlan and Gannon mentioned it during the broadcast, the absense of Lynch hurts Denver's rush defense even more...74 yards on the ground so far the Lions and most of that first drive was fueled by Jones and Duckett. With Cutler out of the lineup and his status unknown, I have a hard time believing the Broncos will be able come back in the second half. I'd expect more of the ground game with that opening possession and a TD right out of the gate could put this game out of reach.

The offense didn't have to be great in the second half...the defense was the story. I did like that two play drive for 95 yards following a stop on 4th down. Jones had an okay day and Duckett ran well and they were able to be productive in the passing game with Johnson and Williams not doing all that much. No complaints about this performance and they have another winnable game next week in Arizona. If they can win that one...they have back to back home games after that with the Giants and Packers, two very big games for them should prove to everyone whether or not they are a contender in the NFC.

I don't know but I'm sure you'd like to tell me...

What I'm happy about the Lions is they are winning the winnable games. They've beaten only one team that has better than a .500 record but they should beat those teams if they expect to make the playoffs and compete for the division title. They face a very weak Cardinals team on the road and that's a game I expect them to win. Following the Cardinals game next week, they'll have 6 of those 7 final games against teams competing for playoff spots in the NFC and AFC...including 2 games against the Packers and games against the Cowboys, the Giants and the Chargers. We'll find out where they really sit in the food chain. Are they just a good team that beats bad teams or are they truly a playoff team that can beat teams on the same level as them or better? The early part of the year is all about racking up the easy wins because it'll only gets tougher in the second half of the season.

Can't find the thread and no real desire to search, but said I thought the Lions would be the biggest turnaround team of '07 and you thought they'd crash and burn.

Even they're D is looking better

Going into the season, I loved their front four and Ernie Sims but they were very suspect in the secondary. They are playing as a team and not a collection of great individual talent. Man for man, they're in the middle of the pack but Marinelli is doing a great job of coaching them up. The offense hasn't had that jaw-dropping game either but we've see flashes out of each player. Today, it was McDonald making the big plays and they got decent contributions out of Jones and Duckett. When you get two defensive TDs, that helps your cause as well.

Let's wait and see what this team does down the stretch when the schedule gets tougher. I'm happy they are 6-2 but the games only get harder and the pressure and expectation get ratcheted up with each win. This team doesn't have experience with being successful. One more win would mean they'd have their best season under Millen. They had a 6-10 year with Mariucci in '04.

The one thing I'm excited about, the Thanksgiving game this year will be meaningful...more than likely playing Green Bay for first place in the division. They haven't played a big game on Thanksgiving in the Millen era.

I don't know how much smack he ran but he played a half-way decent game. Held Roy to only 4 catches. Scoreboard was the only thing I was concerned with...Dre could've had 4 picks for all I care.
