I'd argue Ohio St is a top three team, when you look at and combine offense, defense, and coaching. They have fewer marquee names, but the efficiency hasn't dropped off, and the defense might even be better. They're also playing with a gigantic chip on their shoulders, and perform well under pressure and constant criticism. They're a football factory used to being in this position. We're not talking about USF or ASU here.
But of course I'm not completely without bias here. And none of you are either. I put OSU #1 because I've seen them play a lot of football, much more than those other guys -- and every time I see them play, they look scarier, get better. In the Wisconsin game, they were finally up against some adversity -- as opposed to blowing people out -- and they handled it very well by exploding on offense late in the game and burying Wisconsin.
Sure, I'd say the Big Ten is in a down year, but I'm not just going to take everybody's word for it that the entire conference "sucks." Especially coming from folks whose eyes are glued to Big 12 football, SEC football, etc.
We've got guys like Sudden Sam claiming he doesn't watch Big Ten football (along with Big East) because it's "boring." And that's fine.
But hey, you know what? I don't read the bible. As a result, I don't quote scriptures.
Somebody who claims to never watch Big Ten football is going to educate me on Big Ten teams? Get the fuck outta here.
I just made a case for OSU as #1. But if any of you make cases for Oregon or LSU or even Oklahoma, I wouldn't put up a fight. There's still football to be played, and anybody who believes they've got the clear cut #1 and #2 teams pinned down - then you're an ignorant douche.
