Lute Olsen taking leave of abscense

Post by Shine »

For "personal reasons". He says it isn't health related but just a matter of a personal nature that requires his undivided attention. Obviously I hope everything works out for/with him on a personal level, but on the professional level I wonder how long he'll be gone because Zona needs him on the bench to compete in the loaded Pac-10.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

it was interesting that UofA added veteran coach Kevin O'Neill to the staff a week or so before the announcement.

I thought boy wonder Josh Pastner was the heir apparent at UofA.....but it looks like O'Neill is the interim. the experience probably the difference, but still a bit interesting to me.

He shakes like a cheap broken bed at a dumpy motel that just had 40 quarters inserted...

IF he returns, it will be cameo appearances to satisfy recruits and work the transition....

You're right about this......I watched most of Zona's games last year and he really did have the shakes.......looks like people I know with Parkinson's....not saying that's Lute, just saying he looks like them. I too think his "return" to coaching is doubtful. Personally I think the mystery about this is really quite strange.

I heard this may have to do with a pending divorce. Nothing official, but there's some buzz down there about that.

This is odd though.. O'Neill said Olsen "will be back shortly".. but then said in the article "There is no new information. There is nothing new." :?
