like i said, the reason Pinkel dropped Iowa for illy st, is because he wanted to play someone competitive.
hopefully, after this year, now that Mizzou is a bigtime college football power you'll play some games.
and, no, winning at Ole Miss is not like beating the 76 Steelers.

That would be because of desperation by the suiters, with not many qualified options. Because a good deal of potential college successful coaches realize the moderate to good success equals gainful employment verses "win now or walk" of the NFL.TheJON wrote:Laugh all you want, but Ferentz could get an NFL gig if he wanted......even now. He's well respected in the NFL. If he wanted to put his name out there for some opening next year, he'd be on many NFL teams short lists. That's not me being a homer, that's a fact.
Plus they look at guys like Pete Carroll & Steve Spurrier. "Am I a college motivator....or a pawn mover?" The smart coaches know the one they are....which is Ferentz and what does he feel? From what I know he's not delusional as to chase an NFL job is he?
Like you said if he wanted...is it such a reward other than cash?...which "not sayin' there's anything wrong with that." but it seems more guys are not jumping at the opportunity. Thus " Ferentz could get an NFL gig if he wanted" ain't such a big deal.
Look at the retreads we've seen for so may years. Well, me anyway.
Hey Bill Callahan will get a job of some sort in the NFL. OC probably. Nuf said.
