OT (Sort of) I am staying at Hard Rock Biloxi

Post by buckeye_in_sc »

for the National Championship game...I have been to Beau Rivage and they were just completing the Hard Rock when we were there...

couple questions:

1) Is it nice (only been open about 6 months I presume)
2) How is the Poker Room?
3) Recommend any of the clubs in there or restaurants?
4) If you have been there how would you rate it overall?

Can't wait to get down there only about a 9 hour drive from Charlotte, NC...arriving Jan 5th (Saturday) and will be in NO on Sunday and Monday but staying in Biloxi (only an hour drive)...

GO BUCKS!

any other Buckeye or LSU trolls going to be in NO?

You're driving to Mississippi to watch the game on tv? You're hardcore, dude.

I stayed there when it first opened up. Rooms were something like $80 a night for the Grand Opening. That was a pretty sweet surprise when you consider the Super 8 across the street was about $10 less. I had to put my T REX hat on and really think about that one.

First off Biloxi is about a 2 hour drive from the Super Dome so he could just be staying there and going to the Super Dome for the match up ;)...

But to answer sc the Hard Rock is pretty sweet but I still prefer the Beau.

The Poker Room definatly beats the shit out of The Grand's old room before the hurricane but it still is running second (once again) to the beau, IMHO.

I recommend the Buffet at once againg the Beau (sensing a trend here?).

I give it a 7 over all on ascale from 1 to 10 but as far as outside of Vegas America casinos go it is one of the better to visit...

True, but I thought I read previously that buckeye wasn't attending the game.

If you don't have a ticket I wouldn't go to New Orleans.

I don't feel like starting a flame war about shitty fan bases but if you would like a litney list of reasons to not go to the game without at least a good chance of getting a ticket you can PM me and I'll relate to you my family's experience at our last New Orleans title game...

Somehow, watching the game in the warm confines of my recliner seems much more appealing than surrounding myself by thousands of drunken, disorderly SEC Ballsucking Homers.

I'll probably get together with all of my old football-watching buddies and have a couple of brews. And although I'm basing this on absolutely nothing but a less-than-educated guess, I'm guessing that the farther you go from the Southeastern corner, the higher the percentage of SEC haters. And I'll bask in the joy of every single person I'll be watching with being an SEC hater.

Not likle the jobsite I was at the other day... dang. I thought myself, and the non-SEC posters on this board were SEC haters. There was an entire crew of really sharp, knowledgable CFB diehards... who wouldn't stop going on about the "OC"... the Overrated Conference. And something about LSU "barely sqeaking by mediocre teams for a month" that just didn't sit well with them... and something about "Ohio State would have at least 3 losses in the PAC10," and "now that they're a little more healthy, USC would blow either of those teams out." Maybe not entirely accurate, but the over-the-top PAC homerism was pretty heartwarming, as was the SEC(and Herbstreit) hate.

Oh, and those guys were also well-aware that Georgia was about to play the first road game of their lifetime next season.

This is kind of funny when you consider that basing arguments on shit that has never happened, or will ever happen is the proverbial M.O. for SECBSH. You know the whole, "your team would finish dead last in the SEC! Because I said so!" nonsense.

Oh, agreed.

Complete and irrational horseshit.

But... it's nice to see the conference I root for getting its balls suckled upon, for a change.

I guess the main differences between SEC BSH and PAC BSH are:

-Shoes
-Dentistry
-Quantity of drool running out the corners of the mouth
-Neccessity of a tire pressure gauge to perform a home inspection

If you and your family had a bad experience, please accept the sincere apologies of LSU Fans, the overwhelming majority of which are just like fans in other parts of the country. Unfortunately, it only takes a few to cause problems, and I'm sorry that you and your family evidently had to endure that.

And I agree with you, if you don't have a ticket, don't go to New Orleans thinking you'll find one outside the stadium.
JSC it was a lot more than a couple or handful of fans making the group look bad. It was at least 20k of them.

Throw beers, threaten senior citizens, threaten women, spit on people's food. I am very thankful that I let my father talk me into ponying up the wad of cash and staying at Le Pavillion so all my wife and I had to do was run across the street to get to refuge but I truely feel for the Sooners who had to really walk through those people on their way back to their hotel rooms.

That is good information...

we'll be hanging near whatever Big Buckeye tailgates we can find...all fan bases have idiots...but hopefully we won't encounter too many idiots...but from what Sun Coast is saying...won't hold my breath...

but fact is we are going and will make the best of it...

thanks for the info Sun Coast...my wife and I were in Biloxi in April and drove to NO and it only took us about 1-1.25 hours...so that is still fine...we ate at the Beau Buffet it is very good...don't know how much poker I will get in as my buddy is not a big gambler...might get some cash game action Saturday night and perhaps the Sunday noon tourney at Hard Rock...other than that not much more...which sucks...

Just a heads up but the tourny at the Beau on Sundays is usually pretty full and there are no re-buys if I recall the tourny at HR is a rebuy on Sundays...

I live around bama fans 365. They are nice but annoying as fuck.

Auburn fans will invite anyone to their tailgate, even if they lose.

Have you heard bad things about Auburn Fans?

Dang. Almost sounds like people are talking about Beavers fans(although in fairness, I haven't been to a game in Corvallis in quite a few years).

In Eugene, anyone who gears up in the wrong color or actually made the roadie are considered honored guests.

Maybe Goober even knows people who made the roadie when Wisky came to Autzen. I didn't go, but heard commentary about how cool it was so many people made the trip, and how courteous they were, and were really pleasant to be around.

Then Beaverfans make the 40 mile roadie in their home state and act like dickweeds(and I know of incidents involving physical abuse of senior citizens in opposing gear... absolutely deplorable).

I guess it just depends where you go and what day you go there. I've never been to Louisiana, but living in the Land of Transplants, I've met quite a few people from there, and the one thing they all had in common is that they were nice as all hell.

I'd love to check out a game in Baton Rouge, just to see what the quiet stadiums are all about.(why yes, there should have been a :winky: at the end... cool your jets, Inbreds)

Have they gotten Biloxi cleaned up yet?

I was down there in August of '06 and it was still a mess. What a great time to be there though. Stayed at a decent travelodge right across from the beach for 45 bones. Felt like I was stealing. Then hit 4 Aces on a 50 cent poker machine for $400 at one of the casino's that was open, Sam's Town, I think. Veau Rivage hadn't reopened yet.

Love's me some Biloxi, can't wait to go back someday.

That said, drove thru N'awlins the next day, and there's no way I'll ever go back thru that shithole. There are third world countries like Honduras or Guatemala I'd rather visit first. Hauled ass out of there fast as possible, north to Baton Rouge. Pretty nice town.

My advice, SC buckeye, is to stay in Biloxi, or maybe venture on down to Gulfport if you're feeling really adventurous.

Good Luck.
I hate sigs. But I lost a stupid fucking bet because a KC Paul lookalike and his sorry ass team were inferior to the greatness that is the Pittsburg Steelers.

I havent been that way since about a month before Katrina hit (was living in Bay St. Louis)..and then about a week after it hit (picked up the OL's sister after she lost her home). and the hardrock was pretty fucked. as well as all the casinos there.

If you go down the highway a little everything about 150 yards from the shore is still flat. (cept the buildings who's structures were made of cement).

Pretty sad to see all those 200+ yr old homes wiped out due to that bitch of a storm.

before the storm hit Biloxi was one of my favorite places to hang out. Specially at the Treasure Bay..really solid poker room and tournies daily.

me and the OL are heading to Biloxi in March to get married near the light tower, i plan on spending many hour back in the Poker room

Word. I've been there once, pre-Katrina, and have zero desire to go back. Ran into more trannys in an hour than a Ford repair center would see in a month.

And this is coming from someone who visits Detroit on a semi-regular basis.

Mr. T so do I... there are more Bama fans here than Florida or Florida State fans (by FAR) in my part of Florida. They are pretty reasonable and knowledgeable for the ost part. Allbarn fans are definatly not...

And no I have experienced and watched bad things from Auburn fans... remember my ex inlaws are for the most part Allbarners.

I sure was!!! AWESOME time. I was just engaged at the time and long before the wee one came along and I had a pretty nice little MR2 Spider at the time... A group of Bama fans offered to show me where to park and it was a sweet spot that they paid the $10 for us to park at. My ex and I were getting loaded on the way to the stadium from all the alcohol Bama fans were purchasing for us. The entire weekend my ex and I only had to pay for our hotel, gas, a few souveneirs and breakfast sunday morning. Everything else Bama fans offered us; beers, tailgate Saturday afternoon, tailgate at dinner, etc.

It was by far the best experience I have ever had in all my years of traveling for Sooner football at an opposing team's venue!!!

Biloxi is cleaned but not really rebuilt per say. The Bay Bridge just re-opened last month. The Grand Casino is now on the North side of the strip and they no longer have a poker room. The Beau is still definatly the cream of the crop but the Hard Rock finally offers real compition though.
