another question for the refs

Isn't this only 3 men on the line of scrimage? All day at the game we were wondering why they have been calling illegal formation all year long for not having 7 men on the LOS and here was Illinois all game long with just 3 on the LOS
Those tackles are 2 yards off the ball, what gives?

their tackles were in a 2 point stance the entire game and 2 yards off the ball, that center must have a 6 foot torso if those fucks are lined up with his waistline. If that was a PAC officiating crew, that stuff wouldnt have flown since they were calling that crap all year with guys much closer to the line than Illinois tackles
They need to get rid of all the officials and get a National officiating organization where they can all call the games consistently. The PAC has the worst officials in the nation

Of course BtH is right on. The Big 11 is pretty lax on the issue and so is the Big East as I believe that was a Big East crew. The rule book says the helmet must break the waist of the center, the actual enforcement tends to be the ass of the center.

Here is how this is enforced in practice.

1) In film review going into the game the crew notices the tackles seem to be very far off the line. In the pregame conference with the Head Coach the umpire will mention this.

2) If the pregame conference didn't fix the issue the HL or LJ will mention it to the HC during the first drive and warn him that if it continues it will be a penalty.

3) If 1 and 2 didn't work then you see a yellow flag.

Using the pics above I would say the first is legal in both rule and practice. The second is very hard to tell from the angle but I think my crew would flag that formation.

The right tackle in the top photo is lined up well behind the centers ass, no where near the waist. The ball is on the 23, dudes head is nearly on the 25

You seem very serious about defending that Board Bitch title. With Trixie on a self-imposed hiatus, you should be able to build a formidable lead.
