NFL Defensive POY: The Colts' Bob Sanders

I can't say I disagree with the selection- I've never seen a single defensive player (much less a DB) make so much difference to how a team's defense performs.

DT was a game-breaker, but that Colts D is CRAP without B. Sanders roaming around in their secondary. They had statistically one of the worst Ds in the league last season (Dude missed most of it with injuries), yet when he came back for them in the playoffs for their championship run they suddenly were a completely different and BETTER defense.

This season they were ranked 3rd overall in defense and he played almost the entire season.

Great player indeed...the Colts were definitely wise to lock him up long term and not let him become a free agent after this season.

97 Tackles, 0 Forced Fumbles, 2 INT's, 6 Passes Defensed, 4 Sacks.

If that doesn't scream the best defensive player then I don't know what does..... :meds:

The guy isn't in the top 40 in any major defensive category....

mvscal wrote:Right. Because stats are the only way you can possibly measure the impact of a player on his team.

Waddle along, you fat, dongslurping tard.

Stats say alot there bitter boy. If you think that those numbers over the course of a full NFL season warrant Defensive player of the Year honors then you know less about football then I thought. How about the guys who not only put up stats but also made a huge impact on their team otherwise?

If you've got 3-and-short, there really isn't another guy I'd rather have on my side of the ball to stop the run than Bob Sanders. You don't need stats to know what he does for the Colts.
