Here's an idea. Hold a press conference when you decide to retire. Don't fucking hold one every year to say you are coming back.
Clemens would be an option too (and a no brainer winner), but this is limited to football.

Well, when the media needs to know when, these guys are forced to make announcements just so the speculation and rumors can stop.
With Dungy, he's already got a successor in place so when he leaves, the Colts aren't in a lurch and can allow Caldwell to take over immediately.
With Favre, it's not a guarantee Rodgers is the successor and the Packers need to know early enough so they can make the proper personnel decisions in the offseason.
I don't think either guy is a drama queen as much as it's the media that hound these guys and make their decisions a huge story. It's all a sign of the times...have pressers to say you're not gay or on the juice or you aren't retiring just so the media can stop badgering you and make assumptions on their own.
