Lets say they get swept by Memphis but manage to win all other conference games and lose again to Memphis in the conference tourney, do they deserve a shot as an at-large?

Their record would be 27-6 (including conference tourney) with 3 of those losses coming at the hands of the #1 team in the country. They will have 0 wins against a ranked team and I think only one win against a top 50 RPI school. I think their most notable victory is against Kentucky at home. Other notable wins would be @ Tulane and @ UAB should this play out the way I predict.

Without looking into this at all......I would say that a 27-6 Houston team with three losses to Memphis would get in. I don't think they want to drop any more games however.

Tom Penders=enigma.

always kind of a poor man's Billy Tubbs (sub the feathery semi-mullet look for Billy's wicked combover)....but he's had some success at most of his stops. had UT in the Elite Eight outta the SWC, if i recall. kind of a fluky run (with Terence Rencher--i think--and a couple other scorers....Lance something was also a good player for Penders horns), but history is all about the scobode. and had some decent GW squads.

i'd say they are in. C-USA is a shell of what it was before the Big East colonization (a fun league back then, IMO), but i think they get two bids.

Tom Penders is what he is and that is why his act is already tiring at Cougar High. I don't think the guy has any friends at any of his former coaching stops save maybe Tufts. Cougar High fans are ready to cut him loose and bring in a coach who knows the word defense. Plus the guy is such a tool. He is on a local radio show here each week for a few segments and last week he glossed himself as "the reason San Antonio is hosting the final four." Plus each week he goes on and on about how he can't get anyone to play him because they are scared. BS. The reason they won't play you is because they won't take the call when their sec. tells them "it is coach Penders on the line."

As for those Texas teams you are correct with the "Lance" guy. Lance Blanks made up part of what a t-shirt glossed, "BMW the ultimate scoring machine." BWM being the last initials for Blanks, Wright, and Mays. I think they lost that round of 8 game to Arkansas in a game where both teams were well over 100 points.
