Re: UFC 82 P2P
I think Silva needs to fight Bizarro Silva for anyone to have a chance.

Re: UFC 82 P2P
The pundits have been saying that only a Dan Henderson or Matt Lindland type fighter were the only folks capable of dealing with Anderson Silva. So much for that. I'm not sure who can beat Silva at 185. Paulo Filho may be the only guy that stands a chance and not much of one, IMO. They're also friends and said they won't fight each other. I also don't see Silva making the move to 205. He's too small (he only cuts a few pounds to get to 185) and would get pushed around by guys like Rampage that walk around at 225 or 230. At some point, pure technical brilliance gives way to sheer strength and power. I've also heard rumors of Matt Hughes or Georges St. Pierre moving up to 185 to fight Silva. Hughes can't hang with the strikers at 170, I'm not sure why he thinks he could get past the first minute against Silva. That's suicidal. I could see it possibly happening as a last hurrah for Hughes. St. Pierre isn't going anywhere as he's got plenty of competition at 170.
Henderson did win round 1 by virtue of good positioning and control. It's not like he really did any damage to Silva. Silva blew through him in the second round. Submitting Henderson is no small feat. Only the Nogueira brothers have done it in the past. Guess who Silva trains jiu-jitsu with?
Nice to see Mark Coleman coming back. Too bad he's a sacrificial lamb to a Lesnar slaughter.

Re: UFC 82 P2P
St. Pierre moving up to 185 is laughable. Dude is all about speed. Should he put on 15 lbs to move up and face Silva...forget it.

Vitor, Mario Sperry, Allan Goes, and a couple of other guys who absolutely stabbed the Grandmaster, Carlson Gracie Sr., right in his back and through his heart.

Re: UFC 82 P2P
He mainly trains BJJ with the Nogueira brothers in the newly formed Black House. Minotauro gave Silva his black belt. Those guys no longer train at Brazilian Top Team (with Goes and Sperry), although they obviously have in the past. Vitor and Lyoto Machida are also on his Black House team.Dinsdale wrote:Rack Fu wrote:Guess who Silva trains jiu-jitsu with?

Yeah, the backstabbing paycheck whores really seem to be sticking together in their casue of being shameless backstabbing paycheck whores.
Guys I used to really admire.
There's always more to the story than meets the eye, though. I never had a chance to train with the great Carlson, but a couple of my buds did. They kinda said the same stuff the Carlson Team guys did -- when you were doing well and had it rolling, he was like your dad. When you were learning slowly or not winning matches, he didn't even want to be in the same room as you. I suppose as all those guys hit their 30's, that could get a little old. Carlson wanted a small cut of their money, they didn't want to bucky up. But give Carlson credit for making all of those guys famous.
At least the guy who was holding down the fort while those guys ran around the globe seeking out the easiest fights for the biggest check, who my grappling buds and I considered something of a mentor (I'll leave him nameless, just because I haven't talked to him in so long), didn't get involved in that drama, and instead chose to keep his mouth shut and keep on doing his thing -- training champions. Nice to see that after a lifetime of being taught to take the high road, that lesson paid off when it really mattered.
