It's funny - and appropriate. tOSU is kicking ass in PA recruiting. The Blue Kool Aid geysers are spouting overtime to spin the situation, but they're on their last ounce of juice.

All 5 stars, all in PSU's prime recruiting territory, all at "positions of need". This is nothing short of a root canal-buttfuck.
It's ok, though...we're getting visits from the talent in OH that OSU doesn't want - at least until they head to Michigan.
BTW, did I ever tell you that several members of PSU's staff don't recruit at all? Paterno himself has made 1 visit in two years.

What is the issue? Are they thinking they will get kids on "brand" name alone?
My thought...hire Schiano immediately...

Re: Funny Pic (PSU Fan might not agree)!
The other day, Joe said that kids should want to come to PSU for the program itself. I actually agree...but I don't think you sit back and let that happen. These days, successful recruiting is a tale of heavy travel and travail. If a HC is not up to this, then he's putting the program in a tough position.
PSU has three coaches involved in the offense - Dick Anderson (OC of the first offense to win a MNC by passing more than running, in '82), Galen Hall (only the titular OC, of course - a former QB at PSU under QB coach Joe Paterno, utterly beholden to Joe for professional employment), and Joe Paterno...that don't recruit. Joe will visit a kid every other year or so, but when you look at Tressel's mileage card (to pick but only one successful recruiter among many), you'll understand the effort that the HC MUST make these days.
If there is one teflon argument for Joe Paterno's retirement, it is the current state of recruiting at PSU.
Having said all of that, several of PSU's assistants are heavy recruiters - and they are excellent at it. Larry Johnson sr. is superb, as are Tom Bradley and Ron Vanderlinden. They are doing a tremendous job convincing kids to come to PSU against some pretty stiff competition. It's almost a shame to see them going through these Herculean labors while the offensive staff picks their nostrils in Lasch Building, or in Joe's case, in his living room. It's enough to inspire disgust, to tell you the truth.
Look - I don't want to be the chronicler of the End Times at PSU, foot-snagged in the mire of negativity, but I will speak the truth. Loyalty to the program demands as much.

Not to mention it's gotta be tough for a program to recruit itself when most of the recruits weren't old enough to remember the "glory days."

PSU - that is pretty stout work your D staff is putting in then if they are the primary recruiters...but I do know that tOSU has as many allowable by the NCAA out recruiting...heck I know close to signing day Tressel and Bollman were at Josh Jenkins school for like 8 hours...seeing as places like WV, PA, OH, etc are easy drives from Happy Valley...Joe Pa should hop in the car and hit up these top prospects...especially when the Pittsburgh area is becoming a more fertile recruiting ground now...
Tons of the top coaches log many miles...too bad Joe Pa doesn't get I'd bet a lot of kids would sign up if Joe Pa would visit...especially considering the amount of talent that is out there...wow...

Someone popped me on the head with a phone book, and it just came out.
