LSU to travel to the West Coast in '09

Post by TenTallBen »

I figured Dins would enjoy this...
LSU will open 2009 against Washington in Seattle
by The Times-Picayune
Friday May 23, 2008, 1:33 PM
LSU's football team will open the 2009 season against Washington in Seattle, senior associate athletic director Verge Ausberry announced on Friday.

In the first of two games scheduled between the teams, LSU and Washington will meet on Sept. 5, 2009 in Husky Stadium. Washington will make the return trip to Baton Rouge on Sept. 29, 2012.

LSU's 2009 schedule is now complete.

"We are excited to be able to sign this home-and-home deal with Washington," Ausberry said in a release. "We want to be able to play a non-conference game against a team from a BCS league each year if possible and the addition of Washington to our schedule in 2009 and 2012 gives us that opportunity. The Washington contest is also one that will be very attractive to our fans and it will allow us to bring the LSU football experience to another part of the country."

Next season's game will be the second meeting the schools have had in football. LSU beat the Huskies 40-14 win in 1983 at Tiger Stadium. At the time, a Tiger Stadium record crowd of 82,390 watched as the unranked Tigers, behind three rushing touchdowns by quarterback Jeff Wickersham, upset the ninth-ranked Huskies.

This will be the fifth time in the past eight years that the Tigers have met a member of the Pac-10 in a regular season contest, a stretch that dates back to a 59-13 road win over Arizona in 2003.

Other LSU games against Pac-10 teams in recent years include a 22-21 overtime win over Oregon State in Tiger Stadium to open the 2004 season; a 35-31 road victory over Arizona State to start the 2005 season; and a 45-3 victory over Arizona in Tiger Stadium in 2006.

LSU is 12-3 all-time against members of the Pac-10, which includes a 2-0 mark in games under Coach Les Miles.

Ha, Ha. Real funny. We all know that is a joke. No SEC team plays OCC road games. Everyone knows that they only play 4 road games because they have to go on the road for conference games. How did you pull off that fake news story?

By the time I have my team back from the batting cage later tonight (extra practice because they only won by 43 runs) you will see that this game has been replaced by the real game against a DIII school.

Sincerely,

Schmuck

Neb has a series against Wash in a few years. Hard to say whether they will be worth a damn then or not. I think they will probably be breaking in a new coach when LSU plays them in '09. Willingham is on his last leg. They gotta make a big jump this season to save his ass and they have a damn-tough sched that is going to be hard to make a big-jump with.

they will make it out to be like LSU is going into the lion's den...great for LSU...wow...

I think I might have to make the trip for that one. Seeing LSU fan in Seattle should be quite entertaining!

Nice job cock-shiner, you managed to take a thread about SEC teams traveling and put it back on SEC teams overall recrod when we have shown that they dont travel and dont do well on the road.

Once again, lets look at the stats on the link I provided which, by the eway, is an SEC blog
Here's the breakdown of SEC games played on the West Coast since 1998:

2000 UCLA 35, Alabama 24

2002 Oregon 36, Missisippi State 13

2002 USC 24, Auburn 17

2002 Alabama 21, Hawaii 16

2003 Hawaii 37, Alabama 29

2005 USC 70, Arkansas 17

2007 California 45, Tennessee 31

Even if you take out the numbers-skewing 70 points scored by USC on Arkansas in 2005, West Coast teams are still averaging 32.1 points per game at home against their SEC guests.

It's hard to win games on the road when you give up more than 30 points.

And remember, I'm taking that 70-17 game COMPLETELY out of the equation.

Now let's add in LSU's two victories that came in the state of Arizona:

2003 LSU 59, Arizona 13

2005 LSU 35, Arizona State 31
How many road OOC games has Tuberville won at Auburn? Why dont you get back to me when Auburn actually wins an OOC game on the road.

I didnt go back at all, it was one of your fellow sister fucking, faggot ass southerners blog that went back 10 years.
Is this thread about an SEC team traveling out west or not?
Did your dumb ass try to bring up overall records when the subject was SEC teams traveling yes or no?
forget conference affiliations, USC would kick fuck Auburn up and down the field this year or all time so get off your knees trying to validate your worthless school using the other 11 teams in your conferences accomplishments.

What the fuck are you posting for anyway, Auburn won a road game OOC yet?

so says the guy who sees fit to defend the sec against any perceived slight. i can mention it's hot where i live and you'll post some stupid shit about avg temp + humidity in the south. the sec as a whole doesn't schedule very aggressively ooc, especially when it comes time to play an actual away game. you can post bowl scores all the way back to 25,000 bc - when sec ad's made asians migrate here so they could play an eighth home game - and that still doesn't change the fact that sec teams don't travel all that much.

just because la-monroe whoops up on bama does it mean those teams are any good, let alone better than the average pac 10 team. that comment alone speaks to your bias and lack of credibility to do much other than play schmick's rusty trombone.

Sam - tOSU has Troy on their schedule this year and they will prove to be a tougher out than people think...they played UGA tough and scored a bunch on UF...they are a good squad...I like watching a lot of those C - USA schools play and Sun Belt...they just get after it...

again...Washington sucks...congrats to LSU...but tOSU got no credit last year...so let's not just get all giddy for this game...well I guess since they need to fly something bigger than a crop duster into BR that might be bigger news than this game...

Pac10Honk: The SEC plays a poor out of conference schedule and rarely goes no the road.

SECHonk: We own in bowl wins!! Look it up!!!

This is pretty much how things have went down in here since the beginning of time. Serious quesiton for you SECers - are you just trolling with this response, or are you actually incapable of following along with and discussing a specific point? I'm really curious about this. Spill it.

Sudden Sam wrote:I guarantee you that most any year, Southern Miss would finish mid-Pac 10 or better. Troy, too. Some of the Louisiana directional* schools would be competitive also.
southern miss is a fairly successful bcs program. i'm sure they'd spent most of their pac 10 lives in the middle of the pack. troy, probably not, especially if you're one of those so apt to discount boise state's run a couple years ago.
