DAMN PSU

Post by buckeye_in_sc »

Tressel is just woodshedding Joe Pa with players out of PA...

This year (#1 overall player in PA and one of the top LB's)
Andrew Sweat
Pryor

For 2009 (3 of the top PA players and I think Bell is still the #1 player in PA as of now)
Dorian Bell
Jordan Hall
Corey Brown

what the hell is Joe Pa doing? Could Pryor have had that big of an effect on these kids?

PSU has two extremely effective recruiters on staff - Larry Johnson, and Tom Bradley, in that order. THAT'S NOT ENOUGH.

Lots of folks attempt to spin this, but the fact is, we're not getting our share of PA's blue-chip talent. PSU used to get the majority of that talent, now we're getting almost none of it, and when we DO manage to land some, it is not developed effectively, by and large. Kid see this, and it factors heavily into their aspirations.

We are doing well in Maryland, which of course is LJ's territory. We occasionally get a great kid out of the WPIAL, that's due to Bradley's tireless efforts.

PSU has long had tremendous football talent. While it has been surpassed by a couple of other states, there's still a thicket of great talent in this state. Other schools are making dramatic headway into our traditional areas, both geographically and metaphorically.

Joe's not going to recruit harder, nor is Jay going to recruit harder or more effectively. Those are the guys who control the offense, and that is crystal clear to anyone who watches CFB...namely talent that is considering where to go. The Anthony Morelli debacle has left a rude shiner on their approach...and JT and others are just tagging it over and over with uppercuts. That shit ain't healing until the Paternos permanently are in beach chairs in Avalon NJ. Lord, let it happen SOON

At least PSU seems to have a solid class going as a whole, 12-commits with three 4*'s. That is quite respectable. But ya it does suck that Tressel is raiding your backyard for top prospects. Honestly, I think PSU recruits about as well as it can since nobody knows when Joe is stepping-down so PSU can become a power again. Ya some more recruiting-aces on your staff would help some. You need several closers if you want to branch-out successfully. But in my(and many others') opinion that program is running in place til Joe leaves, and nobody knows when that is. If a guy like Schiano ends-up taking the job then maybe PSU can start creating more excitement and protecting their border better.
