# 9. Georgia

#14. California (This is before the Riley announcement)

I think Arizona State is a little high at #21.

Thoughts ?

It's the most accurate every year.

Sagarin becomes meaningful as the season progresses, right now there is ZERO data for the algorithm.

Iowa only at 45?? Come on now, that's ridiculous. I demand a recount. We're at least #43. Fucking biased rankings.

Oh, yeah by the way.......preseason rankings are for retards. Just sayin'....

UCLA - # 28

Love the optimism....Starting our 3rd string QB, and an O-line that consists of 2 that played the game before (one of the two has a broken hand), 3 converted D-linemen, a couple of freshmen.....

This poll is just flat-out moronic.

VT #6 With the majority of their starters from last year gone and a couple scheduled starters already by the wayside?

Mich #11, with all the production from last-years O gone and new schems on both sides of the ball?

Louisville? Why #15 after just getting over.500 and not returning a lot from last year? They'll be improved but not that improved.

Mizzou #17? Elite offense and a D that should be respectable with a ton of starters back. Should definitely be preseason top10.

Tech at #23 just in front of Oregon State. Tech has a ton back and should be damn salty, gotta put them top15. I have a lot of respect for Mike Riley but this is too high with most of last-years salty D gone and a ? where the ever-productive Bernard was. I'd say more of a 7-5 squad.

Ark at #26? They'll be hard-pressed to be bowl eligible with two first-rounders and a solid fb gone in the backfield with only Casey freaking Dick leading the way.

Quality-wise I'd say Kansas should be considerably higher but with a much tougher sched I'd say they'll finish around #25.

I just don't think WVU is a top 10 team this year. We'll see soon enough, I guess.

Yes, but bear in mind that Jeff Sagarin himself will agree with you at this point of the season.

I have a love/hate with the Sagarins. Although I do believe his method of SoS computation is the best going. And he removes all subjectivity from his rankings, and uses strictly current-season data (obviously rendering any preseason or early season rankings worthless).

Funny how much lower the SEC is ranked when you use actual data rather than homerism for rankings, though.

I think it's important to have some human element factored into a poll. There are times when you can tell with your own two eyes one team is better than another. Statistics can manipulate it so a 1-loss WAC team is "better" than a 2 or 3 loss SEC, Big 12, or Pac 10 team that has actually played some people. I like to put a little more thought into it than just believing without question what the computer tells me to believe.

I agree.

But as mentioned, I prefer the Sagrin SoS rankings.

And they give me a chance to see the raw numbers, and then use my own subjectivity to make further judgements...

Not that it matters, since no one gives a fuck how I would vote in polls.

I definitely keep an eye on them considering they're factored into the BCS.

But Michigan 11? Seriously?

You be correct. Dammit. Shit.

I know at one point last year, he had some school like Charleston East Community College of Southern Utah ranked two spots ahead of Tennessee. That was when I sorta went, "Hmmmm."

I just wanted to make sure I got all the idiots (sheep)..... that "posted and agreed" with someone that knows nothing about College Football.... quoted in their own words!

Let's take another look at the post that all the "lemmings" couldn't wait to attach themselves to.... shall we ?

Bizzarofelice wrote:sagarin 07 had Kansas ranked #2.

That Kansas team ended up ranked #7 in the country and in it's bowl game beat the #3 ranked team in the country!

Yep, that Kansas team that's perennially one of the worst College Football teams in the country and ranked around #100 or something on a regular basis.... comes out of the blue and is ranked in the Top 10 in the Country!

I'd say "Sagarin" was probably the only one in the country that came even close to nailing that one!

Ended up ranked #7 in the country.... and beat the #3 team in the country in their bowl game.

They ended up with 1 loss and every team in the country ranked ahead of them had 2 losses!!!

You could easily make an argument that that Kansas team could have been ranked at least #2.....

"Sagarin" was on the money once again.... yet, a few certain "idiots" that post here didn't have a fuckin' clue!

sin,

Kansas doesn't play in the SEC.

Look at Kansas' schedule from last year.

http://kansas.rivals.com/schedule.asp?T ... &year=2007

Ok, so they have a tougher OCC schedule than the SEC teams.

This is what had them "battle" ready for the bowl season.... where they beat the #3 team in the country.
