Outside of most of the SEC West teams (Auburn, Arkansas, Miss. State, LSU come to mond as teams who will travel to play good OOC games), I wouldn't toot the horn about the scheduling. When was the last time UF traveled out of the state of Florida to play an OOC game? Georgia is finally going somewhere out of state for an OOC game. Tennessee gets much respect for not backing down from traveling all over the country for OOC games.

I'm shocked that you put Hawaii up as a quality opponent. They are going blow this year.

No point in rehashing old arguments. Hell, I'm the first to admit the SEC has way too many shitty OOC games and I hate it. I'd love to see all the less-than-BCS teams gone from the schedules. I'm just saying everyone does it...the SEC is back to including some decent OOC games...and LET'S GET IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoever suggested that shot be given a psychiatric evaluation.

Every conference plays shit OOC games and some really good ones as well.

The SEC routinely ranks dead last in OOC SOS. There was a link thrown up here a couple months ago which showed that. Yeah, everybody plays bad teams -- the SEC just plays a lot more.

Every team has a pussy OOC schedule.....'cept maybe FIU.

Running OOC schedule smack is lame. Even that list he gives isn't impressive because he only mentioned 1 game for each team out of 4. Wow, congrats, a lot of SEC teams play 1 OOC game against a quality opponent. Whoopee! Nobody ever plays more than 1 good team and only 40% of the teams even play 1. 1 out of 4 games being remotely difficult does not make for a difficult OOC schedule.

I mean, that first 3 game stretch by LSU is just so brutal......App St, Troy, and North Texas.

College fans shouldn't be running smack at any other CFB fan about OOC scheduling because EVERY team is fucking lame. That's why September CFB is pretty much unwatchable.

C'mon, Sam. You're a good guy and all, but you gotta take off the rose, errr, crimson-colored glasses. A handful of halfway decent OOC games hardly makes up for decades of incestuous OOC scheduling. Georgia's trip out here is the first time they've left the South in 43 years. 43 years!!! I'm not exaggerating - look it up.

Until the SEC (and especially the SEC elite) stop playing 8 home games every year and playing the few OOC road games they play within 100-200 miles of home, they will continue to get bashed, and deservedly so. Last time I checked, the BCS title game was a national championship game, not a regional one.

As much as everyone around here hates USC, I can't think of a team that has done a better job of embracing the idea of playing a truly national schedule. USC hasn't even had seven home games in years, let alone eight.

This is why I've gradually backed away from the whole "We need a playoff RIGHT FUCKING NOW!" mentality. Until the NCAA addresses the ridiculous scheduling practices of some of these teams, a playoff isn't going to solve anything.

You get a playoff and the OOC scheduling is going to get even worse...

+1 is about as far as I'll go. Anything more and the regular season gets watered down...

Why must D1 be like everyone else, (ie pros, D2, etc) ........

Playoffs=tournment. Regular season champ and a tournment champ....

I honestly don't see how it could get any worse. With the BCS, there's so much importance to win every game you play, so few teams are going to risk losing in the OOC. Just ask the SEC. Its coaches will openly tell you they play the ITT Tech's of the world because the meatgrinder is so brutal. I knock the SEC for this as much as the next guy, but in reality, I can't blame them. They're wise and taking advantage of the system. Obviously you can still get to the title game with a loss or two, but that's the mindset.

You'd rather watch Georgia play Hawaii in a postseason exhibition game, but not a real team with something real riding on the line.

Just baffles the hell out of me.

With a playoff we'd be guaranteed to see some great OOC matchups that have real value on the line. That's just so rare with this fraud of a system we've got going.

I'd like to see an 8-team playoff eventually, but you're putting the cart before the horse. Unless the NCAA or some other governing body were involved with scheduling, you'd continue to see these SEC teams play 8 home games a year against the likes of App St., The Citadel, ULM, ULL, etc. Just because a playoff would mean that they could afford to lose an OOC game doesn't mean they're going to willingly put themselves in a position to do so. Meatgrinder out front shoulda told ya...

I think there will be OOC schedule disparities regardless of whatever system is in place. I'd love to see that changed, but don't think it'll ever happen. I'm just more interested in seeing quality postseason matchups that have real significance.

To accomplish that without any changes to scheduling, we'd be better off going back to the pre-BCS system where all the bowls had conference tie-ins. If the Spartans finished 9-3 and won the Big 10, I'm sure you'd rather see them play in the Rose Bowl against the Pac 10 champ than in the Orange Bowl against BYU or Wake Forest.

Sam

i would hope your not braggin about many of those matchups. holy christ some of those OOC opponents are shit.

Mizzou plays Illinois then SEMO(someone backed out),Buffalo,Nevada to me, bad OOC. 1 game doesnt make a OOC. and SEMO really lowers it. Nevada isnt a bad OOC, but SEMO and Buffalo soften it.

If Mizzou was in SEC, that would be a meatgrinder OOC. right Sam??? that was your take.

Pinkel and Alden are pussies. 1 BCS OOC each season. thats all they will play. horrible.

Pretty god-damned spectacular, motherfucker.

Now go make me some eggs, bitch.
The best way to disrespect somebody is to just walk away from them. But that is the show business part of what we have to deal with, and to me it's wrong. It's a bad example for young people to see and it's not the kind of character and attitude that we want our players to represent this organization in, our owner, the Miami Dolphins ... or the people on the team who all have to suffer because of that.

If the rest of the SEC doesn't fare better than Tenn this year, ooc, ....look for them to crawl back into their protective shells....

And noJ, what is wrong the OOC of Ucla & Suc?

Sudden Sam wrote:Mike, yeah, I knew that about Georgia not traveling. Mind-fuckin'-boggling. Hard to believe it's been that long since they went anywhere.

I've said many times in here that I despise the shitty OOC schedules too many SEC teams play. I was simply pointing out that, like everyone else other than Southern Cal and Notre Dame, SEC schools do play at least one decent OOC game this year. USC and ND are the only schools who regularly play several games against quality opponents. (Yes, I know ND is an independent).

I don't think you're gonna see anybody else playing 2 or 3 BCS-bowl-caliber OOC opponents, though. I wish all conferences would at least quit scheduling the lower division games. Even if you schedule Baylor, Vandy, Iowa State and Indiana...it's better than the Fla Int'ls and Western Kentuckys. Should be an NCAA rule.
Even WKU and FIU are better opponents than Georgia Southern, App St. and the Citadel. At least they're FBS schools, albeit awful ones...
