the god of love songs, no doubt about it

Post by lovebuzz »

Nat King Cole.

when's the last time you listened to and offered up some serrrrrious appreciation for NKC ?

i sometimes like other cheezwhiz love songs better, sure -
but you gotta admit, Nat was the master.

i could post about this man, for about 37 hours straight.
if i went through his catalog, alphabetically -
you'd be qualifying for senior citizen discount's at shitty hamburger stands,
by the time i finished. and probably not awake.
and no, dinsdale - not because i am so boring, but because
the catalog is that fucking perfect.

ps: stay out of this thread dinsdale, and fellow haters. i wants none.

Nat or bust.

Baby, we two can't get along,
I'm never right, you're never wrong.
So meet me at no special place,
And I'll be there at no particular time.

Baby, it just ain't common sense
Mixin' up love with arguments.
So meet me at no special place,
And I'll be there at no particular time.

I'm all fed up on stormy weather,
I'm going where it's June.
Here's hopin' I see you never
'Cause if I do, that will be too soon.

Now that I've put my heart on ice,
Missing you will seem paradise.
So meet me at no special place,
And I'll be there at no particular time.

Just saw this thread today!

I don't really know much of Nat King Cole's stuff, but he definitely is in the Top 3 of Best Love Song Master. I'd have to say some other possibilities are Barry White, Luther Vandross, and Marvin Gaye.

Now, if you want to talk Queen of the Love Songs, Sade wins hands down.

As good as Nat King Cole was at the love song, I prefer listing to him play jazz. Route 66, Straighten Up and Fly Right, Paper Moon... that's the shizzit.

Sometimes it is easier to dis than to prop. I saw both at the same time. Weezer I could give a rats ass about, so I was able to bang out a scud in nothing flat. OTOH, Nat King Cole requires a bit more emotional investment. Sort as the post was, I sometimes prefer to let it percolate a little while.

the mere fact that you said 'percolate' redeems you in my book.

i think there should be streaming NKC in this forum.

ps: i'm all about the emotional investment.

maybe it's because i listen to too much sappy shit these days, G Lightfoot, NKC, Ol Blue Eyes, Nina, Guttermouth, blah blah blah.

I think I feel a Smackbat reset coming on

Did someone say Jim Croce?

Operator, would you help me place this call
Seems the number I got from Smackchat is old and faded
He's living in LA, although he swears that he isn't gay
The guy drove an Elclipse that we all hated

Well isn't that the way they say it goes
Let's not forget my back
And give me the number if you can find it
So I can call just to tell him I'm high
On my meds
I've refilled all my scripts
I like the moltrins most
I only wish the drugs
Could just improve my posts
Are my online buddies real?
Or is that just the way it feels?

Operator, would you help me make this call
Seems that I can't read the asswhooping you just gave me
If I don't hear from Py
I think I'm going to cry
And I'll melt about the modship I thought would save me

Isn't that the way they say it goes
Let's not forget my back
And give me the number if you can find it
So I can call clones just to tell them I'm fine
And to show
I've overcome the Trolls
I've learned to take it well
I only wish Ppanther's mother
Could lead me from this hell
Are these messageboards real
Or is that just the way they feel?

Operator, let's forget about this call
There's nobody who really wanted to listen
Thank you for your time
You've been so much more than kind
Now I need to get to Synagogue to see what I've been missin'

Isn't that the way they say it goes
Let's not forget my back
Just give me the addy to RTT
So I can demonstrate my ADD
And to show
I'll take a whole board's blows
Yet I'll still run my jaw
Even though I know I'll get reamed
Like my brother-in-law
And these boards just aren't real
Except for T & P's from Heels
I got 99 problems but the 'vid ain't one

True story

Last year when I proposed to my fiancee,I had waited til she went upstairs,I hit the lights, lit some candles, and turned on the radio. When I hit the on switch,no joke "Longer" was just starting to play. The mood was perfect, and thankfully, she said yes. :D

You listen to a radio station that plays Dan Fogelberg?

It has to be killing Dinsy that no one even gave notice to his song parody.
