thoughts on fridays game vs KU
USF plays like they did vs UCF, they could get beat badly. Grothe is going to have to make some plays and not force the ball. When he's pressured, he tries to make the perfect play and commits turnovers.

I'm really looking forward to that game. I figure the O/U should be about 107. :D

should be a good game to watch.

Re: Mucho
Hard to call, USF looked quite vulnerable against a Smith-less UCF. But they've had this game earmarked for a while. They'll be pumped and the place will be rocking. IMO KU is a little better team but homefield makes it about a pickem.

Re: Mucho
If our Offensive Coordinator doesn't have an absolute brain cramp with 3 minutes left, then we beat UCF by at least 2 td's. Throwing the ball on 2nd down while trying to run the clock out is just plain stupidity (pass gets picked off and gives UCF the short field to start their comeback). Looking into the stats, we had over 500 yards of offense to their 220. I am not at all concerned about our offense, or defense. Grothe was much better throwing the ball away under the pressure the other night, which is something he hasn't done his first 2 seasons.Adelpiero wrote:USF plays like they did vs UCF, they could get beat badly.
The big concern I have is that our special teams were awful in the UCF game. A blocked field goal, a missed field goal (our kicker sucks), a kickoff returned for a TD, a huge punt return setting up the tying score were the only reason UCF was in the game. We have to fix a few mistakes that were made in the kickoff/punt coverage, but more importantly we have to find a new placekicker.
Reesing has looked pretty good so far. We will have to get a huge pass rush on him all night and I think we have the DL/LB's to do that. Our DB's will have to make sure that they do not miss any tackles. I saw La Tech miss a good number on the KU WR's.
Should be a tough game, but one that we can win.

As much as I hate to give any credit whatsoever to the freaking Gayhawks, they should smack them down easily.
KU - 42
USF - 24

KU stockpiled a lot of wins last year while hardly beating anybody. I see no reason USF can't win this one at home.

i want to hear how Gay-u will whip USF? i'm sure Wags has some stats and facts to base his claim of USF, getting blown out.

Re: Mucho
USF had the better team two years ago in Lawrence, but the Hawks won the game and held the Bulls to their lowest offensive output of the year in both points and yardage, IIRC.
KU needs to prove it can run in short yardage situations, which they haven't had to do much of when Reesing is putting up 350 or more in the air. Wish i knew more about USF's secondary. The talking heads will be all about Selvie vs. an OL breaking in freshmen at both tackle spots. Reesing can move and the coaches will roll him, for sure. USF should get their yards on offense between the 20s. But if it comes down to red zone stops, look out. KU is breaking in a newbie at PK, but Alvarado is hideous. I give KU a decided advantage there.
I had it marked down as a loss at the start of the year. I discount how close the UCF game was. That's some serious bad blood down there stemming from last year's game. Maybe there's a USF hangover, but playing on Friday night, under the lights, national TV - i think Leavitt has his guys ready to play.

Re: Mucho
I don't know where you're getting that, but FIU, Cincinnati and Louisville held us to less yards and Cincinnati and Louisville held us to less points. We had no running game that year and we've greatly improved our RB situation since then. Same goes for our corps of WR's.Degenerate wrote:USF had the better team two years ago in Lawrence, but the Hawks won the game and held the Bulls to their lowest offensive output of the year in both points and yardage, IIRC.
Our CB's are young, but have experience. You might be able to pick on Roberts a bit. Our S's are very strong.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Reesing roll out of pocket a bit to avoid Selvie, so Buie will have to be ready on the other side of the DL. Our interior of the DL has looked good so far, but this is obvioulsy a tougher test for them.

Re: Mucho
Not really. Just call it a hunch and homering for the XII. Is that allowed in your precious little CFB sandbox? Or call it talking out my ass, I don't care.Adelpiero wrote:i'm sure Wags has some stats and facts to base his claim of USF, getting blown out.
But even if I did have "stats and facts", I certainly wouldn't feel compelled to justify my prediction or crunch any numbers to anyone here, especially a keyboard challenged ritalin addicted idiot named addled.
We'll see how it plays out, and if I'm dead wrong, you can post some of the devastatingly spectacular smack you're famous for my direction. Fair enough?
This game gives me a good reason to stay home Friday night. Think I might.
Re: Mucho
USF better do something here. The Big East is stinking up the joint. WV got bitched by ECU. Wanny has Pitt underachieving even more than expected. L'ville lost to rebuilding in-state rival Kentucky. Now Rutgers is 0-2 without having even kept one close.
If the Bulls lose this in their own crib you'd have to drop the East to last of the BCS-cons and it could be argued that a couple nonBCS have better teams.
