Hey Felix

Post by Dinsdale »

Been a long time coming.

Let's get it on... wager of your choice.

But first, remind me the last time Boise State won a game in a PAC10 building?

Oh, that's right -- it was way back in... never.

What little that's left of that gayass "America's Sweetheart" you got by cupcaking through a few seasons, it ends Saturday. Beating up on creampuffs to run up a gaudy record is the sign of fucking sissies...

And your little douchelings will be treated like the candyasses they are.

If you keep Oregon under 350 yards rushing, you can at least pat yourselves on the back and count it as a token "victory."

Quack Quack, beyyyyotch.

Before you start trying to define the word "creampuff" for me, maybe you should first learn the definition of the word "airport."

not quite

Fresno st and nevada are much better than Hawaii. Hawaii is not good at all. They have a QB who doesn't have a clue, and their backup is a running QB who can't throw. Very bad for a air-the-muther-out game plan. I watched both of their games, they might lose every road game they have. losing 5 conference games is reachable. Seriously, they are that bad.

Uh, Hawaii got shithammered by graduation and Jones leaving, they are a shadow of the team they were last year and certainly not the best in the con.

They've never confused you before so why start letting them now?

I think BSU could very well pull this game off.

I suppose they could...

But they won't.

It's kinda weird -- this Ducks team seems to have something that's often missing from Bellotti teams...

Heart. The personnel has been in place for years -- it seems like the heart is the thing that's been missing. The third-string QB is going to bring healthy doses of it.

Speaking of... In our few years of the Spread Option (with a few triple-options in the mix), the number of QBs who have played a full season...

is still sitting at zero. Seems to be a trend. So if any of you have any extra redshirt 4-star guys you're not using, we'll take them. Probably get them in a game before the season is up. It's nice to have 5 very good QBs on the roster -- it's not so nice to start yanking redshirts off after 3 games.

And did I say 350 yards rushing? BSU ain't keeping it under 400.

Didn't see it. Bittersweet -- I generally homer for the PAC in OOC... but I don't shed a tear when UDub gets pounded.

Jake Locker and 21 scrubs aren't looking so good. I blame Neuweasel, though. I actually think Ty is doing a good job with a shitty situation.

Cool that your team played a game as close to you as is possible, though. I'm sure that didn't break your heart.

Just flew back from Seattle this afternoon.

Sucks to go from 84 and sunny to 54 and raining.

I couldn't live where you do. I get a 7-8 month break from the rain. It rarely gets very cold. Was about 90 and sunny yesterday (save for the orange haze from all the fires).

Aint karma a bitch?

All I could think when I saw that potential upset becoming a reality was all the shit Dins has talked about Boise and how they couldn't win in a Pac10-crib.

unless of course the Ducks fall behind 37-13 at which time they had to abandon the run (227 yards rushing to be exact)...thank God you guys have Darron Thomas otherwise it would have been much more lopsided

Kind of sad, though, considering you and your friends have been posting all over this board all week. Unfortunately, you never found your way into this thread until after your team won their game.

I don't post a lot in the CFB forum for a myriad of reasons but primarily it's because for the most part it's confined to talk about BCS conferences and the vast majority of posters pretty much dismiss teams that play in the WAC and similar non-BCS conferences

honestly, whenever I post in here the majority of the time I'm fending off posters such as yourself that drone on with such dismissives as "they play a weak schedule" "who have they played" etc., etc. it just gets pretty tiring....second, I don't follow college football as closely as I do the NFL and by and large I just don't know that much about teams other than Boise State and their opponents....trying to sound intelligent discussing college football in here for me would be a lost cause because I just don't follow it that closely.....but my journey in here was to see if there was anything about Boise State upsetting Oregon (there wasn't) when I noticed Dins had started a thread with my name in it...hence, the reason I posted in it late...had I seen this thread (again, I don't venture in here much) I would have posted in it...

what is interesting however is that your first venture into this thread was to chastise me as being some kind of after the fact Boise State supporter....you should remember that I spent about a week and a half fending off mooks such as yourself when Boise State got the invitation to the Fiesta Bowl and I was inundated with a cascade of "Boise State will get blown out" "OU will hang fifty on BSU" etc. etc.

Dins is one of the worst of the "who have you played" cacophony, hence I was just poking him a little

RACK BSU. Of course they won... I was there. My jinx has been pretty solid in recent years.

Unrack getting into the fifth string at QB. The Spread Option seems to really be eating up the QBs.

RACK the BSU fans who made the trip... there was a bunch of them. Couldn't ask to host a nicer bunch of folks. Very classy fans -- many beers were shared after the game... many.

UnRACK hangovers after a loss. Much easier to deal with after a win.

BTW -- as far as the "who have they played" issue goes...

At least they can claim they've won a road game now...

Since BSU had never, ever won a game in a BCS Conference stadium (hard to believe, eh?).

Gee, what an honor to be the first real team to give up a win to Boise State in "Our House"... which wasn't feeling too much like "ours" yesterday.

I know that Oregon has had a lot of QB issues and I'm not sure the outcome would have been the same if your first or second guy had been at the helm, but you guys have found your QB of the future...he torched the BSU secondary in that fourth quarter...this is a huge win for Boise State-in some respects bigger than the Oklahoma at the Fiesta Bowl in that it was against a ranked team from a BCS conference on their homefield....big step for the Broncos

The BSU fans I hung out with (several groups, actually -- all very cool) seemed to think it was their second-biggest win in their history.

Tough loss. But as you mentioned, there is a bit of a silver lining -- since his redshirt is toast now, Derron Thomas will probably become #1, unless Roper comes back quickly. Ideally, he can be a 3.5 year starter, which usually leads to good QB play.

Could be an ugly week at practice, when the coaches start asking "who played QB in high school? We need more backups."

4 weeks in, QB #5. This isn't going well, for a season that started with a huge battle for position on the QB depth chart, since we had so many young guns. What seemed like a major luxury has now become neccessity.

BSU's secondary played pretty well, and the inexperienced QBs just didn't have the ability to find the little seams the recievers were given.

To fans of other D1A teams -- schedule these guys. They came in bunches, were friendly as all get out... and their women were hot. Great guests, and it was a pleasure hosting them. They told us they weren't treated very well at UDub, and a couple of them said they heard that Oregon fans were nasty and mean. Glad we could dispell that myth for them. And they told us how much they were looking forward to hosting us next season... maybe I'll try and make the roadie. Hopefully, they hook us up with as many drinks as we did them... damn, that was one hell of a bar tab.

Fuckin'A -- I'm still feeling the æffects of being drunk off my motherhumping ass by 8AM. Was in much worse shape by 11PM. Got really stoned with a local celebrity (in Eugene? NO WAY!), but a certain member of the coaching staff wisely passed on the offer. All in all, a great day for football -- except for that final score part.

I wouldn't get too excited about Thomas just yet. Even the Oregon OC is tempering expectations...

Kelly cautioned not to overvalue Thomas' play. Boise State was trying to keep the play in front of them, which allowed more passing opportunities.

"You weren't seeing the coverage that we saw in the fourth quarter, you weren't seeing that coverage in the first quarter," Kelly said. "It's a different deal and a lot of teams do that. When you're up three or four touchdowns, there's no reason for them to be pressing your receivers."

Seems like every year you guys don't get shit for love from the voters - then you just quietly win..... Obviously - you've got another good fukkin' team this year!
the really impressive thing is the team is predominately comprised of freshmen and sophomores...at one point during their opening game there were 11 freshmen playing on the defensive side...supposedly the only time it's ever happened in college football (whether that's true or not I don't know, but it's pretty impressive none the less)...in two years they're going to be scary good
.m2 wrote:I wouldn't get too excited about Thomas just yet. Even the Oregon OC is tempering expectations...
true, but BSU had pretty much geared the defense for Oregon's running game (Blount is a monster btw) and when Thomas came out winging it, they simply weren't expecting it....I'm sure they were diagramming defensive schemes on the sidelines.....

Yeah, they were letting Thomas pass the ball :rolleyesimplied:

Uhm... Thomas just about pulled off the comeback.

And my eyes just about popped out of my head the first time I saw LaGarret Blount play. Quite the JuCo score there. While Jerimiah Johnson is definitely one of the best backs in D1 (and tragically underrated on the national scale), he misses too much time, in between shoulder injuries and fighting off Indians and whatnot. Nice to have a second stringer of that caliber.

While Saturday was a crushing defeat, and put a huuuuuge damper on the season, at least having Thomas and Blount gives us nothing but hope for next season... although there's going to be some major gr4aduation losses at other positions, particularly on defense.

I never said that, I said BSU's defense probably wasn't all that prepared for a concentrated passing attack from the Ducks, as that's not Oregons' typical MO

Chip Kelly:

"You weren't seeing the coverage that we saw in the fourth quarter, you weren't seeing that coverage in the first quarter," Kelly said. "It's a different deal and a lot of teams do that. When you're up three or four touchdowns, there's no reason for them to be pressing your receivers."

after re-watching the fourth quarter of the game, Thomas wasn't nearly as impressive as I'd originally thought...he missed a lot of open receivers, made some bad throws and some bad decisions....but he was much more effective than either Harper or Masoli....no doubt, they had chances to win that game, but coming back from a 24 point deficit is a tall order for anybody, especially a guy that hadn't worked much with the first offense...but they made it a lot closer than I ever thought they would after BSU put up that big lead
