Now, how far does $C drop? Losing to an unranked 1-2 team should drop them pretty far.

They must have Reggie Bush still on their payroll so they can't pay the officials off. They committed some STUPID penalties down the stretch.

Is it even possible to go from #1 to unranked?

It's early enough in the season where they could recover from this loss. If this was their 11th game and they lose to a below .500 Oregon State team, I say they're toast. They definitely can't lose a second game at this point. We've seen teams get a second chance in the title chase after a tough loss in September or even October.

What this loss does is bury Ohio State even more. You can't quite use pretzel logic and say that Oregon State would inevitably beat Ohio State but you just have look at the fact that Ohio State couldn't prepare and scheme for the Trojans in a huge game while the Beavers, who are familiar with USC being a conference foe, prepared and had a better game plan for just tonight and they executed. Is USC better than Oregon State on most days? Of course...but it's all about the game that actually counts. The only thing we can truly use to judge these teams is the actual results...not perception.

Missed the game live because of football practice tonight but after watching it on the DVR it was pretty disgusting. An utter lack of inspired football as those kids had obviously read their own press and were rusty from lack of games a month in to the season.
That said it was also once again obvious that the Pac refs are the absolute worst refs in all of organized football, if youre going to fuck calls up, make them consistent fuckups. before USC scored their final TD, they had 2 plays on the sideline of note, The first was on a play in which they got a 1st down, the WR caught the ball on the sideline and was hit and knocked out of bounds, the announcers said his knee was down when he was hitso they ruled him down but isnt the clock supposed to stop on 1st downs? On the next play a WR caught the ball on the same sideline and was clearly hit and knocked out of bounds, again the clock didnt stop. On the first play if the player was down on his knee why wasnt there a call on the defender who hit in with the crown of his helmet, he was down on his knee right? That hit was certainly worse than the personal foul called before the end of the first half. Also on a play in the 4th when Matthews cleared the TE the TE hits him in the back and then drops off as a safety outlet for his WR, are there certain playes that blocks in the back are legal and other plays when they are not? Also on one of the USC possesions deep in their zone they called a hold on the TE because his hands extended from his body, the series before Averil Spicer was pulled down by the neck of his jersey by a guy he was 2 steps beyond, thats certainly extended from his body. Finally, the horsecollar tackle rule is fucking stupid, especially when youre trying to tackle a guy a foot shorter than you, what part of him are you going to be able to hit besides his shoulder pads? It should be like a boxing ref, if the shorts are up to the arm pits the waist band isnt the belt line, if a guy is 5-6 and a 6-5 guy reaches down and grabs him by the shoulder pads, its not a horsecollar thats the only part of him you can reach.
None of that makes up for the Trojans uninspired football, they thought they would win easily and they blew their season, they blew Maualuga, Cushings, Ellisons, Matthews and Maievas senior years because they didnt get after it til it was too late. they were -2 in turnovers they had 3 times as many yards in penalties, they couldnt even kick an onside kick in a way the coverage team would have a chance to get the ball and they tackled like women. They deserved the loss, seasons over, it's just going to be another Rosebowl season

Well Penn State shit hammered Oregon State...USC Shit Hammered Ohio State...

by that logic PSU v Oregon State in Miami book it...

good luck SEC and 12 fans...I think we are going to have 4 - 6 1 loss teams at the end of the year bitching...

Rule #1 for college football messageboarding...call your shot before you talk scoreboard junk.

When Kal was getting their colon bleach-scrubbed by...MARYLAND, I posted that I thought the score would probably still end as a lopsided Kal victory. I did the same for the OSU/Ohio, and also last night.

I think the point is valid , m2, that you talk a lot of junk without participating in the Pick'em or ever even posting in the many prediction threads...but whatever. Just keep on keepin' on...

If USC doesn't drop below Penn State in the rankings, then something is truly fucked up about college football.

Agree with you _sc, Ohio State coaches look even more inept now after OS gashed that Trojan defense with a 195-lb RB and got Sanchez dirty on frequent occasions last night.

After sleeping on it I change my mind, that uninspired bullshit of a fuckin team in Cardinal and Gold last night will probably play in the vegas Bowl. Looks like my weekend schedule this fall just cleared up.

Ah, the A>B, B>C, therefore A>C argument.

Which means little.

PSU wouldn't have stood a chance last night in Corvallis. The Livestock Lovers' O-Line just plain showed up ready to take on anybody.

Rankings...while fun to discuss...are rarely meaningful in September. I think it was Lefty who said he wished they didn't even come out until the third week of October.

PSU is getting some network respect for whipping OSU...but let's see how we do against tOSU. There are some really swollen heads in the PSU fan base right now.

One game at a time, supernauts. Witness the avatar -->

so would this mean that the big 10 could actually be the 3rd best conference now/ Holy SHIT...

Why would I shit the bed. It wasn't the bed. It was my pants, then I rolled around in it because I was so happy. Now, I wonder where all those fucking gay ass car flags are this morning. They were out in full force after the OSU win but I didn't see any today. Hmmmmmmm. I did check the emergency rooms and it seemed there were a lot of lower leg injuries. I asked the doctors and they said it had something to do with a bandwagon going downhill and people jumping off before the crash.

For one, USC has beaten a top 5 team while PSU has steamrolled 4 cupcakes.

I'd like to see it happen, though. As far as Big Ten teams go, I tend to "root" for PSU moreso than some others.

How you going to have a killer instinct when youre helping the guys youre supposed to kill up after every play?
My kids help the enemy players up during the game and they will run laps on Monday or sit the next game out, you put that man on the ground you leave his ass there to rot, the only thing you want to hear out of his mouth is cries of agony.

Jesus christ, you sound like such a fucking tool. Every once in awhile a bad team plays better than a good team, and an upset takes place. It happens. Get the fuck over it and continue supporting your team.

Of course if USC finds a way to play their way back in the MNC game, you can guarantee Toejam will be the first one on stubhub.
