move over Jeff Sagarin

Post by MgoBlue-LightSpecial »

If you thought the Sagarin ratings were ridiculous, take a look at Ken Massey's (and yes, these are also factored into the BCS formula):

1 Alabama
2 Northwestern
3 Vanderbilt
4 Utah
5 Boise St
6 Oklahoma
7 Duke
8 Virginia Tech
9 Texas
10 UCONN
11 Georgia
12 Missouri
13 Texas Tech
14 South Florida
15 Wake Forest
16 Penn St
17 LSU
18 Ball St
19 BYU
20 Nebraska
21 Oklahoma St
22 Notre Dame
23 Oregon
24 Kentucky
25 CAL

Other notables:

USC - 29th
Auburn - 51st
Florida - 62nd

Oh, don't get me wrong, the entire poll is effed up...those ones in particular though are just straight comical. I'm sure Northwestern or Ball St would DESTROY Florida.

His conference ratings are spot on, though:

1 Big 12
2 Big 10
3 Southeastern
4 Atlantic Coast
5 Mountain West
6 Big East
7 GHL-Bass
8 GHL-Potter
9 Pac 10

I strongly urge you to click on GHL-Bass. Then explain it to me.

my conference rankings would be

1. 1A Big12/ 1B SEC still a lot to see in Big12. can Tech actually stop someone to win a game vs tougher, Is Tejas for real, Was Missouri defense playing poorly, because idiot DC is changing his coverages and schemes during the game. experimenting on the fly(which he said he would do in preseason,). Can OU stay un beaten. Can KU get a running game, so Soddy doesnt run for his life. It would be Big12 as clear #1, but Ole miss and Vandy bring the SEC much needed depth(georgia and tenn are frauds)

2. Big10 i think northwestern blows, seriously they have beat no one, and they do well in Big10,because many defense there cant match up vs a Spread offense, the defenses that do, expose them yearly(3-4 conference losses for NU). But illinois and MSU help conference go 4-7 teams deep.

3. Mountain West/Pac10 You have 2 teams in top 15(byu and utah), and have depth in a tough TCU team, air force is good, and UNLV already picked up a big BCS win. Look at other conferences, no way you can put another ahead.

4 WAC/Big Least/ACC/Pac10 anyone from any of those conferences can beat each other on any given day. BOise and Fresno are 2 strong teams. ACC is still down, and Big east go virtually 1 deep.

eh, thats my rundown. oops on pac1

It's a point of discussion that I find interesting, and as it turns out this is a fine place to discuss CFB. Bullshit or otherwise, polls have always fascinated me, and they aren't going away anytime soon so it's a legitimate and reasonable thing to discuss.

as a conference, this season

does MTN west > Pac 10?

Pac10 goes USC and cal, and oregon is ok.(maryland is actually looking like a decent team, that middle tenn st loss helped them big time. they have been very good since that loss.

MTN has byu, utah, tcu, air force, and UNLV who has win over top 5 pac10 team

It's gonna be awful tough to kill him - kinda like Teddy K. Anything short of beheading and burning might not cut it.

more evidence that Mountain West might be 4th best conference.

Oregon st beats #1 USC, and is now a 11 pt under dog at Utah.

Say what ?

CAL 42 Colorado State 7

They've beat the worst teams in the PAC 10.... and now ASU has their "stud" running back coming back this week. Imagine Michigan State playing without Ringer all year till now.

Anyways, ASU still sucks ass and they'll get pounded this weekend... but, they'll at least have a rushing game.

The first 3 or 4 games of the year(every year) OSU sucks ass and would lose to De la Salle H.S. 3 outta 4 times.

You'll see a different OSU against Utah tonight.

The only teams in the country that can give U$C a game.... are the PAC 10 teams.

$C is 7-4 in their last 11 PAC 10 games....

... they're 10-5 in their last 15 games in the PAC 10.

It's not easy once conference play starts in the PAC 10.... every team turns it up a notch.

Its not that Pac 10 teams turn it up a notch once conference play starts, its that 9 of the 10 teams in the Pac lay down like bitches when they play anyone but USC. They all show up for 1 game a year and then turtle the rest. Way to storm the field in September for getting to .500 fuckasses.

Or.......playing teams year in and year out provides familiarity. Being in a conference you get to know teams and coaches and environments better. Most teams get to go into the "hostile" stadiums every other year, it makes a big difference if you've been there before. If you play Minnesota enough times, eventually they'll get the best of you. It's a conference thing....Notre Dame wouldn't know.

I dont play on the team, but yeah, they need to kick their ass in gear this weekend, an effort like last weeks will have them in the Emerald Bowl, if they even make that one
