Gameday at Vandy
they aren't even on the main campus or near the stadium....but on the quad of the Peabody Education School (old timey women's college). it's really sweet and symmetrical like we're all accustomed to like the Thomas Jefferson campus. with a lot of columns, and a big domed building at the focal.
but that ain't the Vandy campus which is sprawling and nice in that way.
i'd like to say i got a shit ton of emails from college buds about Gameday and props the shizz out of the Commodores.....but, i didn't. and it's like i said a million times, no one really cared about sports at Vandy when i was there.
and they don't now.

i thought living in SEC country was like living in a black hole. no light escapes.Jsc810 wrote:Didn't realize you went to Vandy.
Props on your SEC-ness. :)
only non-SEC thing you get in the papers is a box score of top 25 games. basketball, and i'm a big OU hoops guy, was even worse.
this was before the internet.
i never thought i'd say that Norman, Oklahoma was cosmopolitan.....but?
that said: Nashville and Vandy were pretty cool places to be in the early 90's. good times.

I've been rooting for Vandy on KC's behalf for a few years now, as I do Rice, USF, and others. I hope they keep up the good momentum!

Congrats Vandy and ESPN for sending game day there. Rooting for Vandy even though they beat the Owls cause of King.

More so teams like the three I mentioned, because of the "little guy" status. I am happy for my big10 and other BCS conference friends when their teams win, yes.WolverineSteve wrote:Others being....Michigan, ND, aOSU, State ?PSUFAN wrote:I've been rooting for Vandy on KC's behalf for a few years now, as I do Rice, USF, and others. Re: Gameday at Vandy
Seeing Vanderbilt's start just reminds of that one year Northwestern came out of nowhere and went to the Rose Bowl. Whether they are a brainy school or not...I just identify them as the doormats of their conference and it's fun to watch those guys get their day in the sun.
The biggies they have left are at Georgia in two weeks and they host Florida in 4 weeks. I favor them in the other games...including games against an improved Duke team, a one-loss Kentucky, Tennessee is Tennessee and they close at a ranked Wake Forest. Not to mention, to they'd also have to most likely go through the buzzsaw that is Alabama in the conference title game.

Re: Gameday at Vandy
well, Vandy has blown it (being bowl eligible) in the past. last year and Cutler's senior year* they'd get to 5 wins and then lose out the last 4 games of the year. this will be harder to do and the Commies are likely headed for 8 wins or so....but, it's possible.
*this season featured a 5 win Vandy team losing at a home date to Middle Tennessee State before a typically meatgrinderish season finish with trips to UF and UGA IIRC.
edit: still kind of bummed they didn't film on the Vandy main campus. Peabody is where most people live soph year and it's part of Vandy but it's not really part of your experience there outside soph dorms. I never had a class over there, at least. i guess the media wizards thought it looked the most like "college"...a symmetrical quadrangle and southern Georgian/Jeffersonian architecture.

1. Forfeit the rest of this season.
2. Drop the football program if they won't get rid of at LEAST Tony Franklin. Take Tuberville as well. He can't make decisions OR coach any longer.
