Re: Atlanta - Nice Place?
I have not seen any crime the handful of times I have been there.
Plenty of hot women there too.

Re: Atlanta - Nice Place?
I don't recall during my one visit to the ATL seeing any crime. Unless you want to count the traffic on their Interstates as a crime. As a general rule, if you stay away from the local culture and stick to the areas frequented by other business travelers, you're not very likely to be assaulted no matter where you go in the United States. Now as for Canada...

It should be. That was the only crappy part of going there.BSmack wrote:Unless you want to count the traffic on their Interstates as a crime.

As compared to Newark, NJ where the places you wouldn't want to venture into include everything within the city limits.Papa Willie wrote:How did he destroy your life so bad to cause you to melt this way? :DBirdy wrote:It has a large black population. Anyway - there are good places in ATL and bad. I can ASSURE you that there are some places you wouldn't want to venture into...

Sam,
Where did you think she was going, Montgomery?
As long she stayed the path of the tourist and didnt wear flashy shit or have her tits hanging out, she is fine in a big city.

Are you surprised your wife wasn't mugged downtown in a city of a half million people? It seems odd that would alter your perception of the city as a whole. Atlanta is no different from any other major city - stay out of the crime-ridden neighborhoods and you'll probably be fine. Let me put it to you this way - I don't view Detroit as any less of a shithole because I had a good time at shows, or down by the riverwalk.Sudden Sam wrote:My wife recently spent 4 days in Atlanta on business. I was concerned about crime and her possible demise at the hands of thugs.
She told me all the service people were exceedingly polite and friendly. As a matter of fact, everyone she met and dealt with was great. She stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, so I guess that had something to do with it, but she said everywhere they went people were nothing but nice. They even assured her that she could walk around the hotel area without fear of assault...as long as she didn't expose her cash, they added.
Has something happened in Atlanta that I'm unaware of? What happened to the crime-infested, nasty place I recall so fondly?

Can't wait till the inauguration.
The messiah is gonna outlaw crime ridden ghettos and conversations like this won't even take place.
As for the newark mention, is there actually a downtown habitable area? I had to drive there last month to catch a flight. Gawd, what a fukking ugly shit hole. And I think I was in one of the better parts.

Newark's got nothing on Camden. Now THAT'S a shithole.
Speaking of shitholes, the worst one I've ever been in is New Orleans. Even in the Garden District, the gated street that the Mannings live is no more than a couple of blocks from some of the worst projects the North American continent has to offer.
Then there's Charleston SC - beautiful city, overall. Highway 17 - the main drag in from points north - dumps you right into one of the nastiest hoods in the whole state of SC. BRILLIANT city planning, rebs.

Is there an actuarial troll is the house?Screw_Michigan wrote:I'll be in Newark through Monday, I'll make sure to take some pics and post a PET when I get back.
Seems to me that when you have info like this, buying a short term (till monday) million dollar life insurance policy with yourself as the beneficiary would be a prudent financial move. Kinda like the rather ghoulish life insurance policies I used to see pimped in airport terminals. Do they still have those?
