Tough sledding in bowls for Big 10

Post by Goober McTuber »

The Big 10 team is favored in exactly one out of their 7 bowl games. They are double-digit dogs in 4 of them. They are also facing higher-rated teams in 6 of the 7 games (I used Sagarin ratings in ( ) - sue me).

Favorite Spread
Texas (2) -10.5 Ohio State (10)
Iowa (24) -3.5 South Carolina (35)
Georgia (16) -7.5 Michigan State (30)
USC (5) -10.5 Penn State (6)
Kansas (33) -10.5 Minnesota (66)
Missouri (13) -13.5 Northwestern (37)
Florida State (14) -4.5 Wisconsin (51)

I'd say 2-5, MSU pulls the only upset.

How I'd rank the Big Ten teams in order of confidence that they could win their bowl game...

1. Iowa over South Carolina
2. Northwestern over Missouri
3. Wisconsin over Florida State
4. Michigan State over Georgia
5. Minnesota over Kansas
6. Ohio State over Texas
7. Penn State over USC

I'd bet of them being able to take at least one game from the SEC more than I like their chances against the Big XII.

The only team that has absolutely ZERO shot in hell of winning is Michigan State. They'll lose by 20.

Iowa should win. Wisconsin can win. Northwestern can win if Misery doesn't show up.

Ohio State has a shot at beating Texas. Of course, they could get killed too.

Penn State has a very good shot to win because I think they matchup very well with USC. Penn State has a very good defense and USC's offense isn't anything special so they'll at least be in it late. Probably will come down to whoever makes the plays late. I like USC to win 17-14 but I could see Penn State winning.

Minnesota vs Kansas is a toss-up. A month off after a late season collapse will be good for the young Goofers. Besides, Kansas isn't any good. Adam Weber is nothing spectacular but a slightly retarded midget could throw for 400 yards on that team. As much as it pains me to say this.....I think Minnesota will win this game.

Spoken like a true "coulda, woulda, shoulda" bitch who's still bitter about getting ass-raped by a better team. If anything, MSU has the best chance of an upset. GA is incredibly overrated and has failed to show up in every big game they've played in this season. I see MSU winning by 2 or 3.

Georgia Tech showed that the Bulldogs can be ran on. Ringer can have a big day...I can definitely see State beating Georgia.

the uga defense isn't very impressive, which is why this game seems so uncertain. but then again, neither is the msu d. i'm kind of curious to see how they'll play against a team with an actual vertical passing game, not to mention the only nfl-caliber qb they'll have faced all season long. seriously, i think hoyer is the class of the big ten in that regard.

I think Iowa will win. I think Wisconsin, Minnesota, and MSU can win, but wouldn't count on it. I give very little chance to Northwestern, OSU, and PSU. If The Big Ten gets 3 wins, it'll be lucky.

Well, Notre Dame isn't from a league, so you're technically correct. I'd go with Florida International.

I'd take them over Kentucky.
