IMO, a "secondary rooting interest" wouldn't be out of line... since I'm guessing if you're not busy on Saturdays, you'll probably be attending some games, no?

And if you're going to go to games, it's a hell of a lot more fun when you have a dog in the fight.

In your case, it would be appropriate to root for whichever school you're going to to win out and make the MNC game against the Sooners... and should that happen, break out every scrap of OU gear you own during December, quit speaking to the new friends you make, and pretty much act the arrogant dick anytime the subject of football comes up.


You're going back to school to anhance your overall enjoyment of life, right? Getting behind your local football team seems like a pretty good short-term means to that end...

Which is all that really counts at the end of the day.

If I was in your shoes, A) I'd be bitching about how hard it is to walk in size 6 high heels, and more importantly B) I'd be getting out to the local games, hitting the tailgates with reckless abandon, and I'd be the biggest prick those folks had ever seen, should they ever have the balls to put Oregon on their OOC (well, should that happen, I'd spilt my time between being an over-the-top Quack homer, and swatting at the pigs that were flying through the air).

1. Should my primary allegiance remain with my undergraduate school or should it switch to my postgraduate school? I did not grow up an OU fan-I became an OU fan because I went there, and I went there mainly because they gave me a shit ton of money. Said SEC school will be actually giving me three times as much (though law school tuition at said school is many multiples of what undergrad tuition at OU was in the 90s.) Since my undergrad school is more successful than the postgraduate school, is it being a frontrunner to maintain that primary allegiance?

As Killian said, I think most folks remain with their undergrad school, although the ultimate decision is up to you.

I don't know of any rule to that effect. But given the overwhelming propensity of SEC fan to believe such things, there might be something in the water down there that will influence you in that direction.

Full disclosure: I attended law school at a university which has no football team, but which has a basketball team which is (or more correctly, was until relatively recently) modestly successful. I tend to root for them in addition to ND, although ND comes first. Then again, basketball isn't quite the same as football, so perhaps that's not an entirely fair comparison.
