...but I've read speculation if OU wins the MNC and what with Bradford very likely heading for the NFL, Stoops may be compelled to book to the NFL.
There's this Denver Post "maybe" story..http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_113 ... tid=808254
Seems Bowlin attended OU during law school.
I've heard speculation if Jerra' feels Stoops would be available he'd run his puppet boy down in Dallas.
Just wondering what the word is in red clay land or if any of this has any life whatsoever.
Any of you believe he would entertain leaving?

seems to be a lot more about it in the Denver media than in OK or even OU fan sites....as a casual observation.

It would surprise the hell out of me if Stoops left OU. (Warning: Cliches Ahead) He is a God in Oklahoma and makes a ton of money. He loves working with Joe Castiglione and David Boren and his family (apparently) is very happy there. He's turned down two offers from the Cleveland Browns (in his home state) and his mentor, Steve Spurrier, had a bad experience in the No Fun League.
That said, if he does bolt, he's much more likely to go to a place like Denver where the head coaching position has not been a revolving door and the fans embrace the team in a similar fashion to a college fanbase. I can't see him working for Jerra'. Given all of the above and the recent track record for college coaches in the NFL, I'd give it a less than 10% chance.

Kansas City wanted to make a run at him a few years ago as well. I don't see it happening either. Bob seems like a college guy. With him collecting the big decade payout on his contract at the end of this season there is talk of another such deal being put on the table for him which would be even more lucrative. His actual salary may be about $3.4 million but with his bonuses and his tenure payout at the end of the season he is going to make in excess of $6.8 to 7.35 million this year and that is before any endorsements he may have, his coaches show, and paid public appearances. That's some serious dough.War Stoops wrote:It would surprise the hell out of me if Stoops left OU. (Warning: Cliches Ahead) He is a God in Oklahoma and makes a ton of money. Bob ain't going no where.
he's revered here and he's building a dynasty.
109-23 and playing for a 4th national title in 10 years is pretty impressive.
that being said,if he leaves,I'll be a Stoops fan forever no matter the team.

At this point it probably depends on his wife's happiness. I say that only half-jokingly.
