Im sure there wasnt much jetlag but when a team travels the day of the game, even if it is just 3 hours of travel, it takes them out of their routine, they arent staying the night before the game in the hotel they dont do a walk through the morning before the game in the stadium. They wake up, go to class meet at 1:30 PM and then board a bus then a plane then another bus... if it wasnt a big deal why do so few teams win Thursday Night road games while classes are in session? Hopefully Garrett will tell whatever team asks them to play a Thursday night roadie next year to fuck off, if they want national coverage, go for the saturday night slot.
