The Undisputed Power that is the SEC
Wow, I am just so impressed and so NOT surprised. I can't believe I am saying this but go Ohio State and make everyone eat shit. I would love to see how all the stupid fucks out there that think the SEC and Big 12 are just the elite shit nobody can touch will spin this. Do you dumbfucks get it now? Great teams can lose any match up, period. Stick your Pac-10 sucks up your ass right with USC needs to win every game to earn your retarded respect. Shit even with it so many don't get it. This is not a shitty, division II conference and USC losing a game doesn't devalue their greatness nearly as much as you idiots that knock them seem to think. It just goes to show how inept you are at judging quality and you use USC's Pac-10 losses as your sole reason for discrediting their greatness. Your sack of shit over rated programs get undesereved props for NOTHING but being the media and eastern biased driven favorites of the week every month of the NCAA football season. FInd a reason to knock the Pac-10 (even before USC's domination) and give your schools' losses more credit. That's the forumla we have known for years.
The funny thing is, we will go into 2009 with the same bullshit. Nobody remembers dick and we get sold this horse shit every fucking year and all you dumbfucks out in the sticks run with it year in and year out thinking you know what you are talking about. With this shit CLEARLY in front of your stupid fucking faces, you will still find a way to spin out of it....in your mind, but we know the truth out west.
Your schools are over pimped frauds for the most part and all of us are still in a shitty ass voted championship because it still comes down to polls deciding #1 and #2. I mean I see quality football out there but so many give them way way too much credit like they are unstoppable teams. Too bad he truth is every one of your teams don't know what they are in for against USC until they get on the field and we will continue to see the pollsters take advantage of every opportunity to keep USC from getting it's shots because, how many undefeated seasons can a team really mamnage? You all know it and know It's irrational but that is apparently the only way USC or any Pac-10 school would have a prayer of getting in.
Time to move along to the pros where a title is actually won. No need to watch anymore but I will just because I'm an addict but the best team in the country (again) has already played their final game. Let's get on to the Over Rated Bowl now.
Go Gators, I consider you our East Coast sisters but all that still means is you'd still be our bitch.

Re: The Undisputed Power that is the SEC
Wow, what hate. This board as a whole pulls against the PAC 10 not because of the teams, but because of the PAC 10 posters on this board. If more of you were like Greg and others it would likely be different. But as a group you are some of the worst around.
Look no further than your east coast bias blast. Of the 4 Pac 10 coaches who had a say in the voting none had USC higher than 3rd. Your own conference coaches don't think USC was worthy. It only gets worse. The one computer poll in the BCS formula based in the PAC 10 region had USC lower than any of the other polls. Win over the guys in your conference and region first before you yell at the rest of us.
On the flip side Art Briles (Big XII) and Greg Schiano (Rutgers East Coast) gave you some of your highest votes. Plus your highest computer vote came from an admitted OU honk. [Disclaimer]Computers are supposedly unbiased, but they do have the bias of their programer.[/Disclaimer]
I was also on the sideline of the USC loss this year. In all but maybe 4 positions they had the better athletes, size advantage, and pedigree. What they didn't have was heart.
Would USC beat OU, UF, Texas? We will never know. We do know that OU lost to a one loss team, Texas lost to a two loss team and USC and UF both lost to 4 loss teams.
Is USC the best team in the country? Maybe, but they won't be national champs and it has nothing to do with East coast or east of the Rocky Mtns bias.

Unlike others, you make your point, and bring evidence of it to the table.
And your point is solid. And you had a front row seat for the "sticking point" game of this bowl season (and provided wonderful pics to prove it).
But, bear in mind, I believe Coach Belittle is still in control of one of those 4 votes (correct me if I'm wrong), and frankly, if you don't know the story...
I'm guessing any team that has anything to do with Petey isn't appearing anywhere on Bellotti's ballot. And I'm sure Oregon could have the #1 SoS rating in the country and win every game by at least 50 points... and Petey wouldn't have them in his top 25, if he voted. UCLA could mop the floor with 12 straight opponents, and Bellotti wouldn't give Weasel one iota of love.
OK, maybe I'm overstating the situation for æffect, but you get the idea.
I'm not disputing your logic by any means, since it's fairly solid -- I'm merely interjecting that there's more to the coaches votes in the PAC10 than meets the eye -- that shit ain't for show, a few of the coaches in the conference truly have bigtime personal beefs with some of the others. Then they turn around and embrace their "buddies" to a fault.
My first attempt to find the vid of Petey having a meltdown and screaming every obscenity in the book across at Bellotti came up empty... but I'll try again. That was some funny shit. Don't know what went on between those guys (maybe some of the Trojan fans here know the story?), but that hatred seems genuine. Also creates something of a fairness issue, if guys with the votes have a bias against a team that often is right in the mix.
I agree with whoever was earlier saying that maybe it's time for the coaches poll to go away. While Bellotti probably watches more film of PAC10 games by the time he takes his sunday morning shit than I do in a whole season, I doubt te same can be said of the SEC... or the B12, or anyone else. Someone else made this point, and I agree. Why the fuck would any coach be watching games of teams he won't be playing against this season or the next? I'm guessing (just a guess) that every single poster here saw more SEC games than Bellotti did (he's probably got better things to do Gameday Morning than watch the tube like the rest of us). I'm guessing LSU and Crowton get some love from Bellotti that they might not deserve... just a hunch.
But that's the way things work these days. I'm all ears when it comes to upgrading the system, without unrealistic radical changes (like blowing up the bowl system).
To your other point about there being an anti-PAC bent to this board due to the collective PAC fans here...
Yes and no. While I again see your point...
This ain't the only CFB board on the interwebs. One of thousands, actually. And the same theme seems to be universal.
Mark Sanchez and Jeremiah Masoli could have combined to cure disease and famine, and the PAC10 would still "suck."
While far be it for me to defend M2 (who actually cracks me the fuck up... which probably doesn't speak well of me that I'm tuned into his very warped sense of drunken humor) or Toejam...
A large part of the fierce homerism by the PAC fans could be explained to you folks with a quick look in the mirror. If you want objectivity from us, giving a little bit in return would be an excellent place to start.
M2 ain't the starting QB for Kal. Toejam doesn't call the plays for USC. I'm not the next in line to suffer a knee unjury playing QB for Chip Kelley. Nothing any of us say or do here has any bearing on what happens on the field. And when our conference (or better yet, West Coast lifestyles and whatsuch) get's insulted beyond what the on-field results dictate, don't be suprised when we huddle up and defend our own. Bad enough we routinely get the shaft from pollsters, but to hear all about it from fans of teams/conferences that won't hop on an airplane and back up their shit-talk...
Nope. Get the hell out of here. One thing our conference ain't, is a bunch of pussies. Not the fanbases, not the ADs, not the coaches. A conference or two (looking at YOU, SEC) seem to do an awful lot of running their mouths about the PAC in general, yet cower in fear if asked to run like OJ through the airport.
So yeah -- excuse the fuck out of us if we feel slighted on an occasion... because we are slighted on an occasion.
I got 99 problems but the 'vid ain't one

Ummmm....
That's not the point that most of the PAC 10 posters are trying to make. That comment makes you look a little to self involved. Trust me, you're not part of the equation.
The point that most of the PAC 10 posters are trying to make is that the posters on this board having been saying how OVERRATED and weak the PAC 10 is all year long. The posters from the PAC 10 point out that going 5-0 in the bowl games says something quite different.
Most of the bashing of the PAC 10 has come from the posters of schools in the Big 12, SEC, etc.
The posters from the PAC 10 have pointed out that they play a much tougher OOC schedule and incur loses due to such a schedule.
While the posters from the other conference teams play teams OOC like.... Southeast Missouri State, North Tejas, Tennessee-Martin, Louisiana-Monroe, Citadel, Wofford, Missouri State, etc., and have inflated rankings due to their scheduling.
When teams with inflated rankings play the PAC 10 in the bowl games and lose... it just proves our point.
It just pisses off PAC 10 posters to hear how "shitty" their conference is by posters from conferences that play a high school OOC schedule.
So when a team with an inflated ranking #7 Taco Tech.... gets blown out of the stadium in their bowl game because it was their first test all year long in a OOC game... it just makes our point.
The other conferences are OVERRATED... while the PAC 10 was UNDERRATED. This keeps the PAC 10 teams from ever getting a chance to play in the BCS games at the same rate as the other conferences.
Too summarize... the PAC 10 posters don't really give a shit what you think of us as posters... but, were kinda tired of hearing how shitty our conference is all year long from posters whose conferences were the ones that were in fact... the "shitty" conferences.
Hope that helps when trying to understand where the PAC 10 posters are coming from.

Re: The Undisputed Power that is the SEC
Dins,
I understand the point you are making with coaches in the PAC 10 not going out to dinner with each other and their spouses. However, Bellotti had USC at 5 and even explained his positioning of them. He had them behind OU, UF, and Texas. Hard to argue against that. He said he had them even with PSU and to break the tie he went to common opponent which gave the edge to PSU.
Now, I am pretty sure that the PAC 10 isn't the only conference where coaches have grudges against each other. The thing about the SEC though is all 4 coaches with votes put UF #1. Granted one of them was Meyer. But Phil, Croom, and Miles all had UF #1 too. Never knew Phil to love the Gates.
As for what other boards have to say about the PAC 10 really doesn't matter. I don't post or read boards elsewhere nor are we quoting other boards. So what we have to go on here is the posters here. In that the PAC 10 is sadly bringing up the rear.
Who is the Big 11 spokesperson? Can I claim the C-USA position by default?

SC doesn't have heart yet they win out after any loss and destroy in their meaningless Bowls? UNLIKE your Mizzo, LSU, etc etc etc. SC brushes it off every year and butchers the bowl opponent.
Get the fuck out of here. Alabama doesn't have heart then and I heard the same shit on the radio about their poor feelings. Oh they didn't want to be here. Oh well boo fucking hoo.
So I assume you check the stats too ha? What do you see on TV? What do you hear on the radio? What is shoved down everyone's throats? You don't think people are going to be influeneced, no matter what conference they're from? You don't think this bitches go with the flow to avoid criticism? LOL you don't know our nature then very well. You think Pac-10 coaches wanto give SC proprs? Think they want them winning titles and dominating recruiting? SC already swallows up the west coast and even steals starting QBs from other big conferences.Big picture, buddy. You guys don't think outside the box and you take your one or two selective influences (usually on paper and in the standings) and run run run.
Whatever, if you wanna think the voters are deaf and blind in those respects keep on keeping in line.
Why do you think AFTER each season everyone and their mother starts talking about SC? Because it doesn't mean dick anymore. This isn't just about SC either genius. Oregon has been fucked, UCLA has been fucked and I believe Washington got a nice bend over job since I have been a college football fan, which is now over two decades, so I am not some ignorant noob that is just crying out of his ass. I may not be 60 but I'm not clueless boy. I don't expect anyone that doesn't hear it every single fucking year to understand or be even the slightest bit sympathetic because YOU DON'T KNOW which is what I am saying.
We have a bad attitude, ha, I wonder fucking why. You know how fucking sickening it is to put up with this shit every fucking year?
Every year same response, don't lose to (insert Pac-10 team here) and thatis your justification and these idiots are perfectly content ignoring reality and continuing to resort to this out. At least UCLA and Arizona basketball got to prove things in a playoff. Could you imagine if Pac-10 hoops had to put up with this shit?
USC didn't have heart, that is just fucking retarded. If you come back saying SC lacks heart, you have absolutely no credibility and are proving my point. YOU CAN'T NOT JUDGE WHAT IS ON THE FIELD LIKE THE MILLIONS I AM TALKING ABOUT. So SC didn't have heart the last time they went and lost at OSU either ha? Weak arguement but you managed to impress some, lol. Whatever. IF THEY LACKED HEART, THEY WOUDLN'T EVEN HAVE MADE A RUN IN THAT GAME FOOL.

Having a CCG is kind of a double-edged sword. On the plus-side it affords a team to state their case with a quality win. On the other hand it's another place to trip-up and find yourself out of the hunt.

Actually, many are now saying that about USC and even Utah, and they've got a good arguement.SoCalTrjn wrote: Nobody is saying USC is more deserving of a title game slot than Texas or OU, but they are more deserving than Florida was
After watching Ole Miss destroy T.T. and Oregon dismantle Okie St, the equation has changed.
Hell, I'm a Big XII honk, yet even I can't spin it how either OU or Texas is more deserving than Florida, USC, or Utah. No matter how this turns out, someone is going to have a legit gripe about how they got overlooked.
Oh well, water under the bridge. Nothing can be done other than bitch and moan about needing a playoff, which is why we have message boards. What I'd really love to see is a game between USC-Utah winner then taking on the winner of Fla-OU... of course that would leave Texas standing out in the cold, but you can't please everybody.
As for CCG's, that's all about more revenue for the conference, pure and simple.

mtool is that you?PISC wrote:Wow, I am just so impressed and so NOT surprised.
I'm trying to follow this, but I'm having a real hard time. You say go Ohio State, buy the fact is no conference gets as much east coast bias as the Big 10, no team got screwed as much as Texas did this year. Yet because Texas is in the Big 12 we get favoritism? Maybe i just don't see it. And it is not bias to think that the Pac 10 sucked this year. Look at the Washington schools, look at the Arizona schools, none were worth a shit. USC lost to Oregon state that lost to Penn state and BYU, looking back they are good teams but still a loss is a loss. UCLA, Oregon and kal are all having sub-par years on a national level even all their fan bases will admit to that. USC was the top dog in their conference but with mediocre OOC they were not able to make up for that loss.
If any School has a right to bitch it is Utah they beat everyone on a schedule that was just as tough as USC's schedule and they are getting zero consideration.
I will agree with the notion that the Big 12 is getting exposed as being very overrated but we still have two games yet to play. It didn't surprise me that Tech lost, they suck away from Lubbock, now the loss of OSU did surprise me but they seemed to have peaked pretty early, by the end of the year Baylor was playing better football than they were. The Big 12 North has taken care of business and I guarantee you all of them were the suck this year. Nebraska did show me a lot in their bowl game.
I know you really want to make this out to be the East coast media but the fact is that the Pac 10, Big 10 (east coast darling) Big East, and ACC were all down this year. The good conferences were the SEC, Big 12, and MWC. Yes USC was elite and BSPN has been pimping them like they did in 2k5. The funny part is all their BS about the USC defense being the greatest ever. Shit its like their DNA programed to say stupid shit like that about USC.
IMO there is no champion this year, anyone who claims it better realize that with 2 possibly 3 teams with only 1 loss and another who was undefeated, there is no champion, unless it is Utah.

Re: The Undisputed Power that is the SEC
All of the ESPN love that started in 2005 was a reaction to all the hatred by the network on USC in 2002 through 2004 when the Trojans bitch slapped ESPN darlings Iowa, Michigan and Oklahoma in Bowl games they were picked to lose. ESPN being part of Disney who bankrolls the whole BCS thing were spurned by the trojans who were #1 in everything in 2003 but some stupid ass computer polls and had to split their title with LSU winning the computer poll portion.
USC fans are as disgusted if not more in hearing the ESPN honks who blasted the Trojans for 3 years suddenly on their knees and felating the team ever since, they will never be forgiven for their USC hatred no matter how much love they show them now. Its funny, I like to watch the pregame show from the 2004 Orange Bowl when every honk in a tie said USC was going to get whipped by a much more physical team than they could ever be, Trev even said the game wouldnt be close, SWportscasters should have some sort of accountability and when they blow their picks that badly, get fired and replaced by someone with a clue.
Here's another reporters point of view on the whole SEC thing, quite funny

True, but would you be saying this if Utah had beaten a non-SEC school in its Bowl game? I doubt it, but we'll never really know because Utah beat a team you SECBSH's sucked off all year, so suddenly they're legit. I would love to see the 25 threads if Utah had beaten OSU, Texas, or USC.Papa Willie wrote:: BCS is shit. Utah is getting ass-fucked.

What does this tripe have to do with anything lardass? Michigan sucked this year, sure, but any loss they suffered paled in comparison to the plungering you took trying to say that Auburn was on par with CFB's elite. A pile on of archive proportions.Papa Willie wrote:And the Big 10 is WHAT in bowl games this year? And Michigan did WHAT? .
Now back on topic tubby. Would your praise be the same had the Utes beaten SC, Texas, PSU, OSU, or any team from outside the nations underbelly? This was the point I was making, so answer it, or not, I don't give a flying fuck either way. Or you can get the crazed look you get when the cotton candy tree has only one pink bag left and the vendor's still five rows away, sweating and panicking, unable to focus on the task at hand like how to budget the nacho cheese so as to leave no chips without the liquid orange crack you can't live without.
Oh and this ( :D ) means no offense brah.

Re: The Undisputed Power that is the SEC
Hey PISC you fucktard....
So now we're basing strength of conference on 5 games. Man Shaz would be pissed.
Instead of looking at a small sample like some of you asshats like to do let's look at the entire season.
Quality non conference wins:
Arizona-none however they did lose to a 4-8 new mexico team
Arizona State None but they did lost to Georgia and a 2-6 UNLV team
Cal: Two Michigan Sate and Miami however due to a severe case of jet lag, bus ride lag, and cab lag they lost to maryland because of the refs and the pilot keeping them in the air for 14 hours too long.
Oregon: Two Purdue...well maybe not....one Okie St
Oregon State: Really no quality non conf wins. losses to Utah and Penn State and a 3-0 win over a shitty Pitt team.
Stanford: None
UCLA: None with losses to BYU and Fresneck St
USC two: Ohio State and Penn State but since the Big 10 is so overrated then maybe we should discount these two teams.
Washington and Washington St: None
So in reality the real quality non conference wins for the pac 10 outside of the bowl games adds up to a whopping 6 or 4 if you count PSU and Ohio State.
So please enlighten everyone as to what quality OOC wins the Pac-10 has.
Who's the best conference? Who fucking cares. We've beaten this horse to death. The pac 10 teams proved that they can't win many non conference games vs. top notch opponents but they can win a couple of bowl games vs. some decent teams and some shitty teams. With 34 bowl games that means 68 teams get invites which dilutes the quality of a lot of teams in bowls.
The Pac 10 has a couple of solid teams however I'm not sure they have the depth of some other conferences. The Big 10 is terrible and it's amazing how they can't realize what their weaknesses are after the ass whoopings they get year in and year out from faster teams. It doesn't matter though because the circle jerk that continues with M2, socal and now the newest asshat pisc will never end. One bowl season and 5 games doesn't mean that one conference is better or worse than the others, however look at the entire season and all the OOC games. Oh wait, you don't want to do that because it will expose you for the fucking frauds that you are.
