Prayers for Corey Wilson
I remember how horrible I felt when Cole Pittman was killed in a car accident. BTW this is reason #100,000,000,000 to wear your freaking seatbelt.
PAULS VALLEY, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma wide receiver Corey Wilson has been critically injured in a rollover collision on Interstate 35.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the 20-year-old from Carrollton, Texas, was flown in critical condition with head and internal injuries to OU Medical Center after the crash about 1 p.m. Friday near Pauls Valley. A hospital spokesman says Wilson's family asked that his condition not be released.
The patrol says Wilson was southbound on I-35 when his Chevrolet Trailblazer collided with a pickup, ran off the road and rolled twice, throwing him about 45 feet from the vehicle.
A sophomore, Wilson is the younger brother of former OU wide receiver standout Travis Wilson.
The OHP reports Wilson was not wearing his seat belt.

I hope to God they didnt bring him to PVGH here in town, wouldnt take my animals to taht fucking place.
My mom called me friday afternoon saying there was a big wreck on the interstate (of course "big wreck" usually means fender bender around small towns like the one i live in). so when i saw it on the news saturday, figured she was pretty accurate.
prayers are definatly with him and the other guy/s.

OU players learn Wilson is paralyzed from waist down

Sad news this morning as Oklahoma wide receiver Corey Wilson fights for his life in an Oklahoma City hospital.
John Hoover of the Tulsa World reports that Oklahoma players received an e-mail earlier this week from coaches telling them that Wilson is paralyzed from the waist down after he was involved in an automobile accident last week.
That sobering information puts everything into perspective as three schools continue spring work across the Big 12 and others are getting ready for the start of practice next week.
Hopefully, there's will be better news for Wilson in the future. We all are praying for his recovery.

Re: Prayers for Corey Wilson
terrible situation that should never happen to anyone, let alone a young man on the verge of playing D-1 ball at a top school.
but, i have a good friend who's a quadriplegic from a car accident and he's since got an MA, a PhD and teaches college classes and is a published author. and a real beautiful asshole most of the time.
it sucks to have a piss tube and a bag to shit in, but if Corey is only paralyzed from the waist down....there's still a lot he can do with his life. I hope he does.
when you are in a car going 100 feet per second in a big metal box with wheels, watching bee movie or some shit, talking on the phone...smoking, shaving, putting on makeup (m2), taking pics......it's easy to lose track of what's really happening.

i agree with that. but, i was young and even dumber than i am now...did a lot of stupid stuff. I'm not going to pass judgment. like my buddy who is a quad? was he a Darwin guy for you?IndyFrisco wrote:And it's even easier to wear a fucking seat belt. Re: Prayers for Corey Wilson
Not sure of your buddy's situation other than what you mentioned here in that he's a quad. Could he have easily avoided his situation by simply putting on a seat belt?
Riding in a car without a seat belt is as stupid as jumping out of a plane without a parachute. In my opinion, and to each their own, it is just in saying those who perish in that situation did so in the name of Darwin.
I've done stupid shit as well. Anyone who says they haven't done stupid shit is a liar. I don't ever remember riding in a car without a seat belt past the age of probably 7 or 8. It's just stupid. I even wear belts in cabs, and if the cab does not have a belt, I get out and take a different cab. And if I die doing something stupid, rack Darwin for hitting paydirt yet again. I just don't see it happening because I have more than 2 functioning brain cells.

Re: Prayers for Corey Wilson
buddy was wearing a belt, he went off the road on some mountain thing near Silverthorne, Colorado. the driver just went over the edge. in fact, his spine injury is typical of people wearing belts. but worse.
not all the world obeys the flat, one direction asphalt interstate rules of Texas or Indiana. nor do i think it has anything to do with Darwin.

Re: Prayers for Corey Wilson
Sounds like the belt saved his life if he was rolling in the car down a mountain side. Unfortunate he was paralyzed but he's not dead. And as you said, he's doing quite well despite his handicap. So it sounds like he is an example quite the opposite of Darwin so not sure why you brought that up in response to what I said.King Crimson wrote:buddy was wearing a belt, he went off the road on some mountain thing near Silverthorne, Colorado. the driver just went over the edge. in fact, his spine injury is typical of people wearing belts. but worse.

And both Texas and Indiana have some rough terrain. I live in Southern Indiana where it is anything but flat. Mountains? Nope, but plenty of crappy roads on hillsides. At least Texas, even in the rougher terrain, has an excellent road system.

Re: Prayers for Corey Wilson
i probably overreacted there. no need to go overboard (on my part). i just get a little irrational about my buddy sometimes. people say and do weird things around somebody in a chair. really condescending from people at times. my bad Indy.
