Re: Burnt by Siena
I think Mullen is gone. I am hoping that I'm wrong and everyone stays, but I doubt it.

If Mullens leaves that kid is an idiot. He'll get destroyed.
Never would've guessed OSU would lose tonight, while Wisky wins. Rack March.

Ohio State looked like dog shit all night. In 7th grade basketball they teach the kids how to break a press. Ohio State played like they'd never seen one before. Pathetic.
I hope most of the kids come back next year. There is a lot of talent there. But they shit the bed tonight.
Maybe ND needs to go after McCaffery. He's built a pretty good program at Siena. And he managed to beat tOSU, something Brey couldn't do this year. Also, he's a former ND assistant. I have to assume, then, that he'd be gettable, although ND has managed to screw up that particular dynamic on at least one occasion in the past ('sup, Pete Gillen).

oh well...at least CSU stunned Wake...
as vaunted as the ACC was supposed to be they lost 4 teams on opening weekend and two of the 4/5 were to a Horizon League team (sup CSU) and one of the last teams in (sup Wisconsin)

Actually Siena is located in Loudenville NY just outside the state capital. T in C knows that, was probably just putting the pin in a mental map for the rest of youze. Rack Siena along with Cleveland State as being two of my upset specials !

Why don't you just post with your regular nick, Wolfie? Who are you hiding from, other than Gobbles?

A 9 seed over an 8 is hardly considered an upset.Mr. Schwump wrote:Rack Siena along with Cleveland State as being two of my upset specials !
As bad as my bracketology was this first round, I think I got every 8/9 match-up right. I also think the 9 seeds won every game.

LSU and OK St were 8 seeds. Other than that, you were pretty close.
Re: Burnt by Siena
tO$U wasn't burnt by Siena, they were burnt by their own coach. No question that Matta is an ace recruiter, which is half the battle, so he'll always keep tO$U competing at a high level. But the more and more I watch his in-game coaching the less and less impressed I become.
His costly blunder came near the end of regulation with tO$U up 2 with the ball. For some reason Matta decided to keep 56% FT shooter Mullens on the floor, and even more perplexing he chose to run an inbounds play for Mullens. Shocker, BJ goes to the line and bricks two keeping the Saints alive. Sure there's no guarantee that Diebler or Buford or Turner would have hit their throws but IMHO if tO$U goes up 4 at that point it's game over.
As for Mullens and the NBA, no question he's not ready but nearly every mock draft I've seen has him in the lottery. NBA drafts more on potential than impact these days. It's prolly 50/50 on him being back. If he and Turner do come back, plus Lighty back from injury, tO$U is FF caliber good next year.

"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

Re: Burnt by Siena
Mullens declared himself for the NBA draft. Turner is saying that he is adamant about returning.
