Big 12 6-0
Pac 10 5-1
Big East 6-1
ACC 3-4
Big 10 4-3
SEC 1-2
A-10 2-1
Mountain West 0-2
Horizon 1-1
All the other conferences only had ONE entry into the Big Dance
It looks like all claims of conference superiority by the ACC are NOT validated. The Big 12, Big East, and Pac 10 are showing well so far. Unfortunately, Cal was the only Pac team that lost.... but, considering (not an excuse) that Cal was picked to finish 9th in the conference and had lost TWO NBA quality players, I would still say it was a successful season.

Re: NCAA Tournament Conference Scorecard
Outright win/loss numbers are okay but I prefer to look at how conferences are doing relative to the seeds their teams drew.
The Big East at 6-1 is impressive, but also expected. By seeding they were heavily favored to be 7-0, so the 6-1 mark isn't quite as dominant as it appears on the surface.
The ACC at 3-4 looks bad, but when you factor in seeding it's even worse. They lost a 4 and a 5 seed so two of their losses were heavy favorites. They won their other 2 heavy favorite games they should have but only went 0-2 in slight favorite games with a slight dog win for the third W.
The Big 10 at 4-3 is pretty much what it seems. They went 2-1 in heavy favorite games, lost their toss-up but were able to go 1-1 in slight dog games and 1-0 in heavy dog games.
The Pac 10 at 5-1 is doing well. They won the 3 heavy favorite games they should have, got a win as a slight dog to offset the loss as a slight favorite but also had a heavy dog win*.
*let's be real though, Zona was favored in Vegas as the 12 seed
The Big 12 being undefeated speaks for itself. Making the undefeated record more impressive though is that 2 of the wins came in toss-up games and they held serve as a slight favorite.
We'll see how the 2nd round shapes up. By seeding alone the S16 breakdown should be:
Big East- 5
ACC- 3
B10- 1
P10- 1
B12- 3
For the power conferences how they did IMO will be based a lot on how they stack up to those numbers.

As long as North Carolina and Duke continue to make the Sweet 16 every season, we'll continue to prop the ACC as the toughest conference in the country.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:The ACC is getting shithammered in this tournament. Jaysus.

Re: NCAA Tournament Conference Scorecard
I think it is obvious what the two best conferences in the country were this year based on tourney performance... and the ACC isn't one of them.
