Being a Historically Black College, they are usually in dire need of money. The Michigan game will pay for all of Delaware State's athletic budget, while the conference game wouldnt have paid shit.

Every team sees late cancellations. Not every team calls Delaware St. Call Troy. Call Middle Tennesse St. Call Eastern fucking Michigan.

I agree, but schools shouldn't be allowed to cancel contracts within a few months of games either. If they do the they should be responsible for helping the school they canceled on with finding a replacement.

When you're Michigan and you've got the Big House, fine, receiving help from your cancellations in finding opponents would be nice, but it isn't necessary.

The biggest issue standing in the way of coming up with (decent) OOC opponents is the unwillingness of most of the monster programs to be willing to reciprocate with a home-home series. They want their eight home games, with only four roadies, so instead of calling someone with a pulse, i.e., someone who's big enough to expect their own home game, they call Delaware St.

All home games; pure record padding. It's compound cowardice.

So Michigan doesnt have the habit of scheduling Directional Michigans, MAC schools, and D1-AA schools?

I am just surprised Michigan finally got it right and started scheduling the bottom dwellers of D1-AA.

No, they definitely have made it a habit and you're right, they're not even limiting it to the upper echelon of the D1-AA. They're scraping the bottom of the barrel. They're nearly going full on SEC with their D1-AA pics.
