Post by smackaholic »

high school graduation.

Holly shit!!!! That was quick. I am pretty certain she was in kindergarden last year.

Fukkk me, I'm old.

Just hope she puts a bit more effort into community college this fall.

I 'spose cockblock will be graduating in about 15 minutes. Actually, he's finishing 5th grade next week.

Hey wolfie, you got any grandkids graduated yet, you old fart?

Mace wrote:"Quick" is right. One minute you're watching them in little league and the next minute you're coaching the kid's last high school game. That final game was one of the most emotional of my coaching career. It's always tough to say good bye to the seniors but especially when one of them is your son. We have a little ritual following the final game where the seniors remove their name plates above their dressing cubicle and place them on a large board with the names of graduated players from previous years. I shake their hand and say a few words to each of them before they leave. I stuck my hand out to my son and he put his arms around my neck and gave me a 5 minute hug. There wasn't a dry eye in the dressing room, including mine.
Now I see how gay marriage passed in your neck of the woods. A little to much comraderie in the dressing room. :P

My kids just finished second and fourth grades, respectively. Things seem to move so fast. I still feel very young at 38, but I don't think that's gonna last long.

I still feel pretty young at 46. Can't really say I notice much difference from 38. What I do notice and have since prolly the early thirties is recuperation time. I can still abuse myself. Just can't do it day in and day out like you could at 23.

Not sure what age it is where you can't even do it one day in a row. I suspect somewhere in the mid fifties.

And you might as well start shopping for high school grad presents, PUS. Those little fukkers will be graduating in a month or so, or so it seems.

Next time a kid runs wooden bat smack on you, tell him to not worry, since only really, really talented ballplayers are the only ones that need to worry about it these days.

And yeah, I can still drink wayyyy to much, if I am so inclined. What has changed is I can no longer string such episodes back to back any more.

I've heard that this is the major benie of 'roids. They give you superhuman recovery ability.

Congrats smakihol.

It does go incredibly fast. My son will be graduating this time next year, and my daughter four years hence.

Staying "young" and energetic is more work nowadays. I took up long-distance running again last summer trying to keep up with my son. He just whizzes ahead with a 5:30 pace while I waddle behind at 8:30.

This is as good a thread as any to wish all the dads a Happy Fathers Day. If your kids are still at home, treasure them for as long as it lasts. I'm expecting a call later today from my daughter, who is spending the summer in Colorado. She sent me a Royals t-shirt as a present, and I think it's the coolest Fathers Day gift ever.

Dude, You're on borrowed fukkin' time already. With all the 'roids they pump into milk these days, it seems that they are about half way to menopause before they're out of jr. high. Go out and buy yourself a referee's shirt now for the impending mother-daughter battles you will be officiating soon.

Alledgedly this subsides somewhere around the age of 25 give or take a few years. Let's hope so.

Congratulations on your daughters graduation smackaholic. Yes time flies by. I look at my kids and can't believe what I see sometimes. Seems like just a few blinks ago they were in diapers. College can't be that far off. Back to work now. I have to pay for that college somehow.

Congrats on the graduation.

My boy finishes HS next year and we'll have some privacy again for the first time in 20 years.

Where are the pics, BTW?

You're making the assumption that he's actually gonna move away?

Good luck with that one.

What happens when a loser kid refuses to fly from the nest in local? I mean with all that slab on grade construction, he can't very well take up residence in the basement.

Garage? Tool shed, maybe?
