Sure wins:
Iowa State
I've heard that the laws of gravity & physics change when Iowa State plays Iowa, so this is no gimme either. 6-6.

I see 9-3, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the NW game a loss and the MSU game a W.
I agree with this. I don't think the N'Western game is that much of a trap game though only because we lost to them last year in a major fluke. I can't see us overlooking a team that's had a lot of success against us the last decade or so for anyone. A younger team.......maybe. But not an experienced team where most of our starters started in that game.

I would agree if not for the Wisconsin pick. No way, no how. No shot in effing hell Wisconsin beats Iowa- I don't care where it's played. Wisky is not that good and Iowa owns Madison. Even when we suck we either beat them or should have won the game. Wisky is a 7-5 team at best.

You're starting to sound like Michigan fan. They've never lost a game, just ran out of time.

I didn't say we didn't lose the games despite what the score indicated, but the last 2 times we lost to Wisconsin we should have won those games but pissed them down our legs. And those were 2 years we were mediocre and Wisconsin was good.

Again, the other team didn't win, you lost. That's another UM fan claim. I'm sure there's a team or two every year who thinks the same thing about Iowa. It works both ways.

Um, you forget that they have to get in a plane and play in a different time zone. Outside of USC, we know how well that works for Pac-10 teams.

And the last time they beat a Pac10 team was the last year Cal did anything meaningful, 2003.

Right, but my point wasn't about who coulda, shoulda, woulda won the games. My point is that we always play well against Wisconsin and even when we're not very good and they are we still play them down to the wire. And when we've got a solid team and they're merely average we usually pound them.

Arky State won at Kyle Field last year. and they play people. in addition to Iowa (looking at their schedule) they also play Nebraska and Louisville this season. Alabama and ATM last year and lost 21-13 in Austin the season before that in addition to playing Tennessee. they are kind of going the "Troy" route, i guess. they could show up and make things interesting in Iowa City. i wouldn't pick them to win but it could be a 1 or 2 score game when the 4th quarter starts if the Hawks don't come to play.

Huh? The last 10 games:

L 11/13/1999 3 41
L 10/28/2000 7 13
L 11/3/2001 28 34
W 11/2/2002 20 3
W 11/22/2003 27 21
W 11/20/2004 30 7
W 11/12/2005 20 10
L 11/11/2006 21 24
L 9/22/2007 13 17
W 10/18/2008 38 16

You're 5-5 against them in your last 10 games, and I see 3 poundings and two close victories. You're 1-2 against Bielema. I don't see where you get off being over confident.

You're conveniently leaving out the 1970s & 80s to make your argument look stronger. And in '99, the Iowa players didn't care and had already given up. Don't count that one.

L 11/11/2006 21 24
L 9/22/2007 13 17
W 10/18/2008 38 16
1999, Iowa = 1-10
2000, Iowa = 3-9 and the ONLY reason we lost is because the refs failed to call a PI on Jamar Fletcher in the end zone when he took Kevin Kasper's arm and grabbed it preventing him from scoring the game winning TD.
2001, We were 7-5 and lost it late. So again, an average Iowa team on the road nearly wins
2002, 2003, 2004, 2005........mostly blowouts. 2005 score does not indicate how that game played out. 2003 went right down to the wire in Madison
2006, we were terrible and were a play away from beating an 11 win Wisconsin team in their house
2007, again we were terrible and if not for 2 dropped balls by Scott Chandler we win this game
2008, Blowout, game wasn't even that close.

So, in the last 6 years we've won 4 of the games. The 2 games we lost were down to the wire in years Iowa was TERRIBLE and Wisconsin was pretty good. Every year Iowa has been good, we've basically pounded Wisconsin. This dates back about 30 years. I honestly cannot think of 1 time we were any good and lost to them. I would have to look it up but off the top of my head, I can't think of 1 year unless you count 2001 where we were decent at best.

Iowa 8+ win seasons and results vs Wisconsin in those years since 1981.......

2008, home (w) 38-16
2004, home (w) 30-7
2003, road (w) 27-21
2002, home (w) 20-3
1996, home (w) 31-0
1995, road (w) 33-20
1991, road (w) 10-6
1990, home (w) 30-10
1987, road (w) 31-10
1986, home (w) 17-6
1985, road (w) 23-13
1984, home (tie) 10-10
1983, road (w) 34-13
1981, road (w) 17-7

So, since 1981 we are 13-0-1 against Wisconsin in years we have won 8 or more games

Overall, since then we are 22-7-1 since 1976. Now, I realize that the 1980's have no bearing on this game but this Iowa team is going to win a minimum of 8 games this year. There is absolutely no way it doesn't. And historically, Wisconsin cannot beat us when we're any good. That 13-0-1 record is no anomoly.

Wisconsin's record in those years:

2008, home (w) 38-16 (7-6)
2004, home (w) 30-7 (9-3)
2003, road (w) 27-21 (7-6)
2002, home (w) 20-3 (8-6)
1996, home (w) 31-0 (8-5)
1995, road (w) 33-20 (4-5-2)
1991, road (w) 10-6 (5-6)
1990, home (w) 30-10 (1-10)
1987, road (w) 31-10 (3-8)
1986, home (w) 17-6 (3-9)
1985, road (w) 23-13 (5-6)
1984, home (tie) 10-10 (7-4-1)
1983, road (w) 34-13 (7-4)
1981, road (w) 17-7 (7-5)

So in those years you mentioned, Wisconsin was 81-83-2. I guess I should chalk up the MSU vs. ND game as a win for ND. Going back to 1987 when ND wins at least 8 games, they are 9-3 with one loss in OT and another on a fluke 4th and 10 completion. And ND is going to win more than 8 games this year.

Yes, but I can't see how Wisconsin is any better than 6-6 or 7-5 this year. They've got issues all over their defense and at quarterback. I like John Clay but they won't be able to stop anyone and you're going to see 8 and 9 guys in the box to shut him down because they don't have a QB worth a damn. We're not talking about a vintage Barry Alvarez Rose Bowl team here.

Michigan State is much better than Wisconsin. MSU wins at least 8 games this year. 9 if they beat Notre Dame.

You're missing the point. Notre Dame is going to win more than 8 games, and when they do, they are 9-3 against MSU with two of those losses coming in OT and by a fluke play. So, should I count MSU as a win? In 12 years when ND has had 8 or more wins, they've won 9, lost 1, and beat themselves twice.

Should I count that as a win?

I was a Journalism major, not a math major but I'm pretty certain that 13-0-1 is better than 9-3 when analyzing trends. I think ND has a good shot of beating MSU. Just not as good as Iowa does of beating Wisconsin.

I'm not saying we're an absolute lock to beat the Badgers, but trends would indicate this is probably an Iowa win.
