I wasn't, but I guess maybe I had a "near miss."
But I dunno for sure.

I was about 12 years old and my folks took me to the U. of Iowa medical center to see a specialist about a certain medical issue I had.
Doc met with me, my mom, and dad.
We all sat and talked about the problem I was having.
Doc took it all in, heard what was going on, took some notes, etc.
Then the doctor excused my folks and said he wanted to look at me ... just he and I.

No big deal.
Sounds Ok.

Folks exit.

Then as soon as they leave, doc starts actin' weird ... noticably.
He acts a bit "jumpy" and "scattered" and then starts asking odd questions of no relation to the issue.

Doc: "What do the other boys say to you in the shower?"
Me: ...

Doc: "What are they talking about?"
Me: ...

Doc: "What do they think about you?"
Me: ...

I remember that I didn't answer a single word to any of those questions.
I just sat there like ... wtf is this??

It was all just so very strange.
His questions came out of nowhere.
Three minutes earlier we were all talking about my medical issue and now he was alone with me and going off on these semi-sexual tangents.

And as he asked the questions he was sort of "fumbling" around and acting all herky-jerky.
He looked flustered.

I became convinced later, when I was a little older, that if my parents had not been in the next room I very easily could have been a victim that day.

But at the moment he started in with those questions, I sort of thought, ... "Well, he IS the doctor, so maybe there's some reason he needs to ask these things."

I was a 12 yr old kid who really didn't know shit.

Anyway, I basically ignored him, and he finished his questions, which became more "professional," I would say.

Then he left.
And I do remember that he never saw my folks after that.
After he left, a nurse came in and then she let my folks back in the room, after which another doctor finished things up with us all.

I never said anything to my parents about the doctor, and as I look back now, I really should have.

That's my "near miss" on being molested.

Someone(s) here has prolly been molested.

According to Wikipedia, 15 to 25% of women and 5 to 15% of men were victims of child molestation.

So even if we dumb that down to it's ... lowest ... percentage, at least according to Wiki, we have about 1 in 10 people having been victimized in the area of molestation.

Pretty substantial group of people.

Think of how many who read the board have been victimized.
I nearly was.

Over the years we've talked about just about every issue there is to talk about.

Poverty, education, alcoholism, transvestites (and other panty freaks), AIDS, drug use & abuse, p0rn, marriage and ... divorce, infidelity, jackin' off, pollution, sexism, racism, terrorism, teacher/student "play" time, government, homosexuality, buttfucking, prostitution, tits, ass, aging, dementia, alzheimers, ... etc.

I can't recall a "serious" discussion about molestation.

I'm just puttin' it up for discussion and relaying that I had my own close call.

I wasn't, but a Catholic priest in my parish when I was a kid was accused of doing so. The accuser was female.

I certainly have no way of knowing for sure, of course, but based on my dealings with this particular priest, I never would have suspected him of doing this.

Not long after the accusations became public (not until MANY years later), the priest, by that time in his 60's, had a heart attack and died. If the allegations were untrue (and I personally think they were), the person who brought them should be ashamed of herself.

Interesting. I lived in PNG from 1958 to 1964. My father was a Lutheran missionary. I did all of my grade school there. Lined up outside every morning and sang “God Save the Queen.” But even then cannibalism was only practiced way out in the hinterlands. Lae (the correct spelling) is a port city and the second largest city in PNG. I don’t think there were any dangers from cannibals there.
