Houston vs. Oklahoma State - In Game
I have a massive boner for this game.
Houston has a puncher's chance if they can contain one of the three threats on offense.
I think if the linebackers can contain Hunter, then that will be Houston's best chance to win. A shootout is the Coogs' best chance because if Ok State has success running the ball, then they will control the outcome.
Lets get it on, bitches!!!

Keenum was juiced on that first drive and overthrew and open receiver. Pick. Fuck.
Hunter puts the ball on the ground and Keenum takes it in for six.
Fuck yeah!!!

Coogs' secondary playing out of their minds right now. They nearly had two picks both times the ball was thrown to Dez Bryant and they held Ok State to a FG attempt on a 3rd and 4. Missed FG btw.
Coogs' still up 7-0

1st qtr in the books. UH up 10-0.
They had Ok State at 3rd and 15, but the defensive playcall on that play was wayyy too passive. Blitz the fucker.

Re: Houston vs. Oklahoma State - In Game
After a costly turnover by the Coogs' deep in Cowboy territory, the defense contained and forced Ok State to punt. UH is driving now late in the 2nd qtr. A touchdown here would be huge to make it a two posession game heading into the locker room.

17-7 with two minutes to play in the first half. Keenum is in a groove now. He's completed 10 of his last 11 attempts.

Re: Houston vs. Oklahoma State - In Game
What a brilliant call by Sumlin after UH went up 17-7. The kicker absolutely drilled one of Ok State's frontmen on the kickoff. UH recovers and scores on a 35-yard screen pass with 44 seconds. to play.
UH up 24-7 with one half to play. Holy Jesus Mary of Joseph Great Odin's Raven!!!

Just like that it's 24-21. Dez freaking Bryant.
Houston needs to score or at least hold onto the ball for a sustained drive to take the crowd out of it.

Lame PF call.
Re: Houston vs. Oklahoma State - In Game
Horrible 3rd qtr for the Coogs'. Poor tackling and bad special teams play. 28-24 Cowboys. Fuck.

Re: Houston vs. Oklahoma State - In Game
The Coogs' march right down the field after 21 unanswered and take a 31-28 lead. The 4th quarter might come down to whoever has the ball last.

The defense looks pathetic now. Horrible tackling and coverage from the secondary.
Cowboys score easily. 35-31.

This is an instant classic.
4th and goal from the 6 and Keenum scrambles around and fires a bullet in traffic. It's deflected by a Cowboy linebacker and ends up in the hands of Bryce Beall for the touchdown. Holy shit.
38-35 Coogs'.

of course i don't cry when OSU loses, but a nice W for UH and Sumlin's career.

Re: Houston vs. Oklahoma State - In Game
Sadly, the Cougar High win is already lost in the background that is the apathy towards their program. The Texans losing to the Jets didn't help, but damn their students and alums for the most part don't give a rat's ass.
Couple of their fans did make it thru to talk radio the past few days and started calling for the Big XII or SEC to pick them up. Called LSU, Texas and ATM programs chicken for leaving them out and not scheduling them now. What Cougar fan forgets is that you can walk up to Robertson 5 mins before kick and get tickets in only a 30K seat stadium in the fourth largest city in the country, smack in the middle of football country.

Re: Houston vs. Oklahoma State - In Game
Lefty, now you know as well as I do when Houston was squeezed out of the realignment of the conferences back in '95, that was the beginning of the end for Houston ever being a blip on the national scene. Sure, the student body is near the mid 30s which is larger than most state universities, but the fact remains Houston is and always will be a commuter school.
Not only that, but the current system makes it even tougher on them to ever become a BCS buster. Boise St. fans and locals have nothing else to do in their fair town but to support their football program. Same with BYU and Utah. In Houston, there is so much more to do than to support a school that did not have success a whole lot of success post-SWC days. When Houston finally rebounded with Briles and Kolb, it was going to take a while to stick. Here we are today and Houston is a legit top 25 team. The Texas Tech game is sold out and if they win like they won in Stillwater in front of 30,000+ fans, then the school will gain even more momentum and the support will start to stick to the wall.
It wasn't but ten years ago that Houston's football program was almost dead and buried. Fastforward to today and they have a legit shot at a 1-loss season. Quite the turnaround.

That was my overriding thought. I took Okie St, but who was really surprised to see them give up a shitload of points again, and lose?Paul wrote:Nice win Coogs....guess the Pokesweren'tare who we thought they were after all.
Rumps, I asked it on the main board, but I'll ask it again here: What's with the bizarre apostrophe in your nic? Is that just a Texan's attempt at written English, or is it an homage to m2?
