I didn't ask about rules. I asked about what makes sense and 7-2 does not beat 8-1 in any sensible scenario. Conference championship games should be reserved for breaking ties.

No, it isn't. When the season is over, what generally happens is the records of the teams from a given division or conference are looked at, and the team with the most wins is awarded that division or conference's championship.

Once the regular season is over, the Devil Rays don't get to play the Yankees in a one game playoff for the AL East crown, not unless they ended the season in a tie. The Yankees win, because their record was better. That's part and parcel of the game.

I hear all day everyday people saying CFB needs a playoff and I don't disagree. Are you one of those people?

Why? What the hell did Watson do? His fucking players can't execute plays. It doesn't matter what they run. They can't block a good d-line, the WR's can't catch, the QB can't throw and they don't have big play backs. There isn't a coach in the country that could get Nebraska to even be a halfway decent offense this year. This is what I love about CFB fans. They have no idea what they're talking about. They see an offense (or defense) struggle and they wanna fire the coordinator even though anyone with half a brain could tell it has NOTHING to do with the coordinator.

I had no problem with Nebraska's gameplan today. The couple of times they did throw it downfield it was an epic fail by Zac Lee. They couldn't hold blocks up front against the run. What the hell is a coordinator supposed to do in this situation? You can't run the ball, you can't throw downfield, and you can't run a ball control passing game because your QB is not accurate and your WR's drop balls. Tell me exactly what the hell you would have done differently?

There is absolutely no coach or no style of offense that would work with this personnel. Sorry, but it's true.

Watson is also the quarterback's coach and when your QB is still making the same mistakes he's made all season long, then something has to change.

I agree that he can't be blamed for all the offense's struggles. They are a rather young group and have been hit hard with the injury bug this year at running back and somewhat on the line. However, it's like Watson can't decide what he wants to do. He calls an option with no freaking blockers so it's only a short gain. He doesn't know what exactly he wants to do. As fans, we see what works and what doesn't and when they didn't do any power sweeps or runs with extra blockers, it made me scratch my head. Bo clearly isn't happy with some of his decisions.

^^^ gets it. Nebraska's D was on the field all night and played like rock stars. Watson missed ALL night long on his calls. Pelini will axe him...i hope. Execution only goes so far when u got a good Texas D in your face all night. I could have beat watsons' calls on NCAA 2010 all night long. So predictable.

No argument to make? It's pretty clear. Everyone said the game would've been over, I said the game would've been far from over. Beyond that, I thought they still would've won the game. Nothing "vapid" about that, as it would've gone against the grain of what everybody thought. And certainly is no less vapid than stating a kickoff out of bounds is a bad thing.

I see what you're saying, but I think there's good reason for that. Like I said, it doesn't matter what he tries it doesn't work. If it's not working, you have to try something else. When the offense is this inept, it's only natural for the coordinator to keep trying something different so it just seems like he doesn't know what he wants to do. Put some experienced talent in there and I'm sure it will be completely different.

It's only natural for fans to see a struggling offense and blame the coordinator, so I'm in no way calling out Husker fans for this. Every fan base does it. But watching that game completely objective (I don't care for either team), I didn't have much criticism for the offensive coordinator on playcalls. Maybe I would have liked to have seen a little misdirection or instead of running 5 yard outs on playaction, mixed in a deep route on the playaction calls. But then again, Zac Lee does not throw a good deep ball so it probably wouldn't have mattered.

I don't care what the coordinator calls and how good of a defense you are facing, there is absolutely no excuse to not get a first down for over 2 full quarters and to have less than 50 yards going into the 4th quarter. That's all execution right there. The offensive struggles (today and against ISU definitely) were 100% on the players.

When the offensive coordinator is trying something different that is not even a strength of the offense, then it's on his head. I kept thinking to myself, "When is he going to have some extra blockers in there for a sweep?" Guys on a husker board I frequent kept scratching their heads about why he kept calling runs to the left side when the right side seemed to be a weaker target. It's that stuff that makes you pull your hair out.

That being said, he took some shots down field, but Lee hangs those balls up there too much. Those will work versus the lower tier teams, but not against better talent.

Also, I give him some credit. NU was pinned twice inside the five. Watson didn't try anything fancy there. It wasn't pretty, but no major mistakes occurred there.
