Well....the the vicious circle of NFL SUCKTITUDE is complete here in Kansas City. The Chiefs couldn't sell out their last home game of the season vs. the Browns, therefore they won't be on TV here within a 75-mile radius. I'd love to say I'm surprised, but I'm not.

Paul, you lazy piece of fuck, you should have reminded the fucking Chef's front office that they NEVER lose when you're in the stands. All it would have cost them is a measly fucking season ticket (well, maybe two season tickets for your fat ass) and all the rest of the KC yokels would still show up and sell out the hulking relic named Arrowhead.

I care.
I would've like to seen what D. Bowe has in his first game back from suspension.
Nice job Haley and Pioli, alienating the best fanbase in the NFL.
I blame YOU, you stupid cock suckers. There's no excuse for this pathetic team and coach. None. You don't get a honeymoon with me.

Yeah, pretty much. It came out on Friday that Clark Hunt has been buying the tickets that needed to be sold to be considered a "sell-out", but he just couldn't see doing it anymore, particularly for a game against a team that might actually be WORSE than we are.Joe in PB wrote:Paul wrote:Well....the the vicious circle of NFL SUCKTITUDE is complete here in Kansas City. Breaking News: Tackling abolished in Kansas City!
By Doug Farrar
We don't know when during the week the decision might have made, but we're pretty sure that at some point during the preparation for their home game against the Cleveland Browns. Todd Haley and the Kansas City Chiefs apparently decided that tackling just, y'know, kinda wasn't worth it.
When the Chiefs concluded their 41-34 loss at Arrowhead Stadium with Matt Cassel's(notes) attempt to throw for a field goal at the end of the game (bringing to mind Alex Karras' famed "I keek touchdown!" reference), the Browns had amassed an astonishing 735 total yards. Key among the stars was Josh Cribbs, who returned two kickoffs for touchdowns -- 100 and 103 yards -- to set the NFL career record with eight. Not only is Cribbs the best return man of his era (sorry, Devin Hester(notes)), he's also a demon on kick coverage, and he's probably the Browns' best quarterback. One wonders what a mind like Mike Holmgren's could do with this guy...
More unexpected was the performance by fourth-year running back Jerome Harrison(notes). The former Washington State star had rushed 88 times for 301 yards all year before today, despite a very strong performance against the Bengals in Week 4 (29 carries, 121 yards). Still, who expected this? Against the Chiefs, Harrison ran 34 times for 286 yards and three touchdowns, adding in one catch for 12 yards for good measure. The performance puts him third all-time in single-game rushing yards behind Adrian Peterson and Jamal Lewis(notes). One also wonders what might have happened had Brady Quinn(notes) been able to throw for more than 66 yards -- Quinn almost outgained himself on the ground with 39 rushing yards.
Of course, the Browns pitched in with their own repugnant defensive efforts -- any time you see the Chiefs put up 34 points, problems abound. Running back Jamaal Charles(notes), another guy who needs to see more time on the field, put up 154 rushing yards of his own on 25 carries. Still, Harrison was the real story here. Whoever takes over this Browns team (and my money's on Holmgren) will have a few players to build with. Cribbs and Harrison are at the top of the list.

Re: Chiefs BLACKED OUT in KC- 1st time since 1990
After having a full day to digest what I witnessed 1st hand at Arrowhead Stadium yesterday, it looked FAR worse that it probably would've looked on TV. I have NEVER EVER seen a worse defensive or special teams "performance" by the Chiefs than what I saw yesterday. NO team speed on defense, absolutely NO concept of basic tackling by the special teamers, and the defensive front got completely OWNED by the Browns' offensive line all fucking day long.
Scott Pioli has a lot of decisions to make as soon as this bullshit season is over with. Primarily, he needs to figure out if Todd Haley can get this thing turned around sooner than later. At the VERY LEAST Haley is going to have to blow out most (if not ALL) of his assistant coaches and replace them with proven winning coaches if he is allowed to stay on as HC. Clancy Pendergast sucks so motherfucking bad as the defensive coordinator that now I see why Ken Whisenhunt gassed him even though the Cardinals just came off a Super Bowl run. Haley also MUST get an offensive coordinator- while the offense played pretty well yesterday (despite an O-line in shambles), it's just too much for Haley to do as a HC. Dude has to learn to delegate authority. Almost ALL the great head coaches do that, and if he aspires to be one of the greats then he needs to hire good coaches to work FOR him and not have to worry about him pulling the rug out from underneath them.
This offseason will be the most important one in recent Chiefs history- so many holes need to be filled, and lots of guys here now need to be fired. The NFL is a results-driven business, and if a good HC like Marty Schottenheimer can get run despite a 14-2 season then Todd Haley should be held just as accountable. This team had nowhere to go but UP, and yet they somehow figured out a way to regress. It's just no longer acceptable, and the blackout was the 1st sign of unacceptability.

It's what I said about 6 or 8 weeks ago.
This management team is clueless and so is the ownership. Lamar is rolling over in his grave. Ever since he died, this franchise has gone straight to hell and there's no end in sight. There's no light at the end of this tunnel. Clarke is a retarded bastard child in my estimation for hiring these fools and handing them the keys. Does he have a smarter sister?
The seething, furious anger I have right now over what's been done to my team is not something anyone wants to read, so I'll just leave it at that. For now.

Re: Chiefs BLACKED OUT in KC- 1st time since 1990
IndyFrisco, Pioli is Haley's boss. Pioli needs to ensure that for Haley to do his job better next year (if he's allowed to stay on as HC), he MUST fire most of his coaching staff and hire proven veteran offensive and defensive coordinators that can help Haley get this franchise going in the right direction again. Job #1 for Pioli now is to blow out a LOT of this current roster as soon as he is allowed to, and try to the best of his ability to upgrade nearly every position on the roster. The Chiefs have nearly $40 million under the cap right now, so there's no reason whatsoever why they shouldn't be serious players in free agency.IndyFrisco wrote:First:

And where are these so-called "proven OC and DC" who are willing to drop whatever gig they are currently proving themselves at to go to the clusterfuck that is the KC Chefs? You act like these individuals are as readily available as a twinkie in your cupboard. The coaching staff may or may not be a problem. What we do know is the talent, or lack thereof in KC, IS the problem. If your coaches fail with good talent, fire them then. Until then, don't expect them to win with the shit they're excreting onto the field.Paul wrote:Pioli needs to ensure that for Haley to do his job better next year (if he's allowed to stay on as HC), he MUST fire most of his coaching staff and hire proven veteran offensive and defensive coordinators that can help Haley get this franchise going in the right direction again.

The common misconception is that next season will be a spend-a-thon (no Cap) for those wanting to compete.
It will be the opposite for the simple reason the owners are planning to lock the players out in 2011 unless the CBA is re-done and the union is effectively broken / % of revenues is dropped substantially
If you're planning a lock out, the last thing you want to do is give those you're locking out a boatload of cash to survive on.
I really beleive it's why the Chiefs didn't spend more this offseason.
Re: Chiefs BLACKED OUT in KC- 1st time since 1990
Points well taken Scott, but Clark Hunt MUST field a much-improved football team for the 2010 season if he wants his newly renovated "New Arrowhead Stadium" (what a crock of BULLSHIT, btw) filled back up with loyal fans again. The only way I can see them getting there from here is by making a splash in free agency and the draft, therefore drumming up fan interest again and possibly getting a couple of primetime gametimes next year in the process.KC Scott wrote:The common misconception is that next season will be a spend-a-thon (no Cap) for those wanting to compete.

Re: Chiefs BLACKED OUT in KC- 1st time since 1990
Sure I can and Pioli damn sure has changed the franchise in less one year... they went from being a bunch of lovable losers who were at least competitive on the field, to a bunch of forlorn losers who routinely get blown the fuck out of their own stadium that they can't sell out. They are a complete laughingstock akin to Detroit, if not worse. And they ARE going to get worse (as hard as that is to believe) because they have no direction whatsoever, no guiding force making sound football decisions. They are going to suck for years because while a good coach can't make bad players good, a bad coach can undermine good players.Paul wrote:Wags, you CAN'T lump Pioli in there- that guy has to have time to change the franchise. And don't even try to pin any of this on Carl and Herm. Carl didn't hire Haley (a complete idiot of a coach who trys a fake punt with Brody Croyle lined up in punt formation, goes for it on 4th down when he should kick a field goal, and stupidly challenges the spot of the ball) nor did he fire his OC 1 week before the season began.
I never thought I'd miss Herm, but I damn sure do. And while it wasn't the popular opinion around KC, I damn sure knew I'd miss Carl. That guy resurrected the Chiefs when they were what they are now, a forlorn franchise w/o hope. It might take him to un-retire to bring this team back from the dead again, 'cause I damn sure don't have any faith in the current management.
Fuck Pioli and fuck Haley. Fire both of these clowns. Admit you made a bad mistake, move on, and try to pick up the pieces.

They had your one and done team beat twice last year, dumbfuck, only to blow late leads with stupid late game management. They could have easily won 4-5 more games that they were in until the last 2 minutes.
No, getting waxed in your division is not making progress.

OK, I'll entertain the notion of giving Haley his pink slip once the season is over, but you're a FUCKING IDIOT if you don't think that Pioli can't get this team turned around. The dude helped shape the most dominant football team of this decade, man! He wasn't a FOUR TIME NFL Executive Of The Year winner for nothing, Wags....who knows? Maybe Pioli will see the error of his ways and gas Haley as soon as this shit season's over with. Maybe not. But I'm more than confident in knowing that Pioli by now has seen enough and is already putting the wheels in motion towards getting a lot of it corrected.War Wagon wrote:Fuck Pioli and fuck Haley. Fire both of these clowns. Admit you made a bad mistake, move on, and try to pick up the pieces.
Knee-jerk reaction and firing everybody in sight is what LOSERS do, Wags. Just ask Al Davis. Or Randy Lerner. Or Dan Snyder. Get your head out of your ass and see what the coming months bring here.

That's it, OK. You gotta do this for me. Huge. Quickly. All right. Bye."

Re: Chiefs BLACKED OUT in KC- 1st time since 1990
I don't care what the man did elsewhere. That means NOTHING to me. Different circumstances, different coaches, different players.Paul wrote:The dude helped shape the most dominant football team of this decade, man! He wasn't a FOUR TIME NFL Executive Of The Year winner for nothing...
What I care about is what he's done here, which is sabotage a once proud franchise with piss poor decision making from top to bottom. Fuck that, he doesn't get a mulligan with me. Not for one year, and certainly not for two. Fool me once. If anyone of us posting on this board did our job as poorly as he has, we'd be out of work.
Drink the Kool-Aid all you want, I'm not buying it. I'm from the Show-me State and what I've seen so far I don't want to see any more of.

He hasn't made them any worse than they were. FACT. Now we have a better QB and starting RB (after finally gassing LJ), and picked up an above average WR that the Blots didn't need. THAT'S progress, Wags. Pioli didn't sabotage SHIT here, Carl Peterson did and NOBODY can dispute that- Carl traded the best pass-rushing DE in the NFL IN HIS FUCKING PRIME. Carl gave a rode hard and put away wet RB a boatload of cash. Carl did NOTHING to replenish the offensive line after Willie Roaf and Will Shields retired.War Wagon wrote:I don't care what the man did elsewhere. That means NOTHING to me. No other sane GM in this league would've done those things. Period. End of discussion.
THAT'S why this is a once proud franchise with piss poor decision making from top to bottom. :brad:

We're just going to have to agree to disagree here, Paul. I don't have the time nor inclination to get in an endless pissing match with you.
Suffice to say I believe you're dead wrong about all that tripe you just posted.
But I respect your considered opinion as a true diehard fan... and your right to voice it.
I long for better days. This is killing me.

Only a special kind of retard ignores someone by telling them they're being ignored. After taking the time to edit the post he's replying to, that is.
"Oh... look at me. I am ignoring you. LOOK, DAMNIT!! I am totally getting over, see? Look at me ignoring you!! bode!"

Fwiw, the ignore function is, imo, the biggest faggot function evar.

Not from where I sit- maybe if a few people here grow the fuck up then there wouldn't be a need for an "ignore" function.poptart wrote:
