This win puts them in a position for where they can now make a run at the tourney. They're still a long shot, but a loss today would have ended all hopes. Now they're still just on life support. The problem is they have no margin for error, but it sure beats the fuck outta being completely out of it midway through the year (like Iowa is).

Big Ten is worse than I thought it would be. Ohio St, with Turner back and healthy, is looking like the 2nd best team right now. Purdont's starting 5 is as good as anyone but just doesn't have the bench. Wisco is average without Leuer and you can only flop your way to so many home victories. Minny just lost to IU and still might be the 4th best team right now. Illinois is still an enigma. scUM is soft and is going to have to crawl itself out of a hole yet again. N'western playing way beyond its talent, but still not a serious threat. Penn St has been a major disappointment. Iowa, Indiana...bleh. MSU should win the conference by double digits again.

Nice would be the word to use because it's not a great win considering this UConn squad against others. Yeah, they were a Final Four team last year but they lost Price, Thabeet and Adrien. That team lost 4 games all last year and 3 in conference...they're up to 6 losses overall and are 2-3 in the Big East so far. It's a name win but the only non-conference game they could've won this year that would move the needle would've been winning in Lawrence against the Jayhawks. This team seemed very overrated heading into the season. I love Harris and Sims but it's so hard to judge how a perimeter team will do. It's an all or nothing proposition and even in this game against UConn, they didn't shoot all that well from the floor.

Michigan was able to get in with their .500 conference record last year when they had wins over UCLA and Duke and gave UConn a game in Storrs. They have to get 10 or 11 wins in conference to make up for their lack of a out of conference resume. Wins against Marquette, Alabama, Boston College and Utah wouldn't have made their resume better but they're in a better spot to get in as an at-large with a couple of those wins.

So far, they don't have a very impressive conference resume...they beat the Buckeyes at Crisler without Evan Turner. They made up for the bad loss against Indiana with a big win at home but they should have two wins instead of one. The loss against Northwestern is so-so considering the Wildcats are a potential tournament team because of the solid out-of-conference resume. There's 8 Big Ten teams fighting for potentially 6 or 7 spots in the dance. It's how Michigan does against those other 7 teams will make or break them. They have 10 games left with those 7 teams and they pretty much have to win the two Iowa games and finish the season sweep against Penn State. I don't think they've got a lot of room for error if they tack on another bad loss. They could definitely use a big road win against Wisconsin, Purdue or Michigan State coming up.

Link? Can you give me one quality win all year? Maybe ND. I don't care what William and Mary's RPI is. They're W&M. :meds:

11-6. 0-3 in road games. Disappointing...

The shame in losing to Michigan basketball can cause serious health issues, apparently

He should just retire. Seriously. He's one tough SOB who brought a nothing program to national prominence. 2 titles. He's got nothing left to prove.

Kicked cancer's ass on 3 separate occasions. 67 years old. Enjoy the rest of your life...
