BWAHAHA at Purdouche

Post by Screw_Michigan »

Hummel: 86'd for season. Purdouche's Final Four hopes: 86'd.

UPDATE: It's official. The Indianapolis Star reports that Purdue junior Robbie Hummel suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during the Boilermakers' victory over Minnesota Wednesday night.

The injury is a huge blow to the Boilermakers. As we said below (with video of the play in which Hummel was injured), the junior is the second-leading scorer and second-leading rebounder for the nation's third-ranked team, which has run off 10 straight wins since losing three straight in early January.

"Injuries are a part of the game, but this is obviously disappointing on multiple levels because of everything Robbie Hummel has done for this program both on and off the court," Purdue coach Matt Painter said this afternoon. "As he begins his recovery and rehab, Robbie will continue to provide integral leadership as we pursue our team goals down the stretch."

The leadership that Painter talks about will be the most glaring thing missing in Hummel's absence.

Our guess is that senior Keaton Grant will replace Hummel in the starting lineup. While Grant is a good player, he's not the do-all-the-little-things player that Hummel has become in his three stellar years at Purdue.

Hummel was not made available for comment Thursday and the team said there is not yet a timetable for his return.

You are truly one of the worst pieces of shit to ever post on this board. Start giving up your paycheck for reparations now and then you can shut the fuck up about your racist blasts.

I actually feel bad for Purdue and Hummel. That's pretty devastating for them.

It's the "cut" of the jerseys that looks so horrid. Long v-necks and flared sleeves - wtf?

you Big 10 guys are hard. Hummel out, laughs and high-fives all around.

i think Painter is a whiner, but hey.

Wouldn't count on it. Hummel was a non factor in E. Lansing and Purdue still won. Though Lucas was hobbling around that day, and probably shouldn't have played. But you know they will be sky high for this one, wanting to clinch the title and all.

Not over here, boss. I think it's a damn shame. It's gotta really REALLY suck to get this far, play this well, get a 1 seed practically wrapped up, only to get Kenyon Martin'd in late Feb. Hummel wasn't on that level, but you get it.

I hope they get knocked to a 2 seed, Painter amps up the fucking crying and they get bounced in the second round.

That means then Puke will get a 1 seed, most likely. You'd rather have that? :meds:

I still expect PU to beat Sparty this weekend. Often times when a team suffers a major injury they're able to rally together in the short term, and I think this big home game will be an example of that. Long term though I'd look for either Sparty or tO$U, maybe even Bucky, to win the BTT. More than likely that would make PU a 2 seed come NCAA time. There is still enough talent for a S16 run but unless they get a really favorable draw that is likely where their season ends.

As an IU fan I'm somewhat relieved on the one hand because my fears of Purdue making the FF in Indy are almost totally gone now. On the other hand I also know that PU fans will be spouting forever about the "what ifs" this year. I know because I still talk about the "what ifs" from 93 when Alan Henderson got hurt and the old timers talk about the "what ifs" from 75 with Scott May.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."
