He's taking that Irish loss on Thursday a little hard, eh?

Not really. I hear Digger is quite like this.Shoalzie wrote:MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Off topic, but shit, Digger Phelps is sloppy drunk. Reece Davis and Hubert Davis are just giving him the side eye.

i thought he was over it a bit. when he first started he was blotto pretty regularly. these days, he's still a moron but at least you can understand what he's saying. as i've posted before, Stacey Dales has had some pretty unflattering things to say about Digger around Norman off the record. being drunk a lot on air isn't the worst of them.Screw_Michigan wrote:Not really. While it's true, MGO has little clue about sports, Washington has had the perfect match ups. Any other draw, and they are 1 and done. Marquette had zero inside game to salt the game away, and when your game plan is chucking it, your going to allow teams to come back, especially when they are about chucking it from outside. It's not like Washington has beat a Kansas, they beat an above average Marquette team and an overrated Mid major. How New Mexico was a #3 seed is beyond me, Alford pulled the wool over everyone's eyes, they weren't as good as their schedule and ranking said. They should of lost to Montana. Romar does have Huskies playing their best ball at the right time, and he has 3 quality guards, which, in the Tourney, guard play is the key to advancing to day 2.Screw_Michigan wrote:"Washington is a Pac-10 slappy."

Werd. Pure gold, Wags! And should Mizzou pull off the unthinkable today against Huggie-bear, life for those who live west of State Line Road will become absolutely intolerable! Regardless, can't wait to roll into work this week!War Wagon wrote:

Rack. Same old Georgetown. You could just see them all going "Well, Ohio will get cold eventually and we'll get back in this." They play with no passion, fire or spark. Just another day at the beach for the Hoyas. I'm sick and fucking tired of Thompson's mid-mannered temperament. How you don't go bat-shit irate watching that pathetic performance Thursday is beyond me. The Hoyas are a reflection of their coach. Down by 10 in the first half to Ohio? Meh.Adelpiero wrote:Worst coaching of Tourney was Thompson at Georgetown. He made zero adjustments the whole game, they allowed OD to completely control the game. It's one thing to lose, but to keep running the same plays that didn't work in minute 2 of first half is another.
If I see one, I'll buy it for you, but I suspect you're more likely to find that t-shirt in KC than Iowa.Truman wrote:Werd. Pure gold, Wags! Anyone know where I can buy a "Farokh Kansas" tee?
Was Missouri ranked the #1 team in the land when that happened back in '90? Tiger fan still has smack rights, imo. I enjoyed the '90 game too, Wags, but not as much as last night. I happened to be with a few Mizzou fans during the game and I suspect they celebrated just as much as any UNI fan. You guys truly do hate those fucking Jayhawks. Has KU cancelled classes for Monday and declared it a day of mourning?War Wagon wrote:Lest I gloat too much over beaker travails, I'm reminded of 1990 when Northern freaking Iowa knocked a very good Mizzou team out in the 1st round. Not that I'll bring that up when twisting the dagger on certain smug squawkfans, which is to say, almost all of them.
Oklahoma was #1 when the tournament started in 90. OU beat (blew out) consecutive #1's Kansas and Missouri in back to back games 2 days apart in late February and went on to blow out #2 KU again in the Big 8 tournament to claim the #1 spot. But, that was a great Mizzou team with Doug Smith and Anthony Peeler. Mizzou won the game in Columbia earlier in the year, 92-90, in a classic Norm-Billy Big 8 game. OU was upset in the 2nd round by North Carolina and Rick Fox. a game i watched in an interstate motel in Salina, Utah. still hurts.Mace wrote:Was Missouri ranked the #1 team in the land when that happened back in '90? Didn't that team have Stacy King and Mookie Blaylock?King Crimson wrote: Oklahoma was #1 when the tournament started in 90.

additionally, while it's par for the pod system era.....regional sites in OKC and STL were going to be pretty favorable to the Jayhawks no matter who they were going to play. OKC to Lawrence is about 2 1/2-3 hours in the car. Lawrence to STL, what, about 4? not to mention both OKC and STL have significant KU alum bases.War Wagon wrote:Mizzou had been ranked #1 at some in point in 1990 I believe, but I think they were a 2 seed in the tourney. Good question, and I don't have an answer. Not the first time that a MVC team has been the best in Iowa...Drake a few years ago, University of Northern Iowa (UNI) this year. Iowa needs to hire a coach and then recruit some Big 10 talent players. Not sure what happened to Iowa State this year, as I don't follow them much. I know that Brackens didn't have the kind of year that they expected.War Wagon wrote:How is it that the best basketball team in Iowa is from the MVC?

needed to hit the boards. they lose one off their hands that a MU hoop there makes it a one possession game. instead Huggy's guy ends up with a putback off a FT.....3 possession game. finito.War Wagon wrote:epic finish to MSU-MD.
In other news, Mizzou could've easily beaten WVU today if they had taken advantage of just half of their opportunities...
Oh well, it was to be expected. But I'm still disappointed they couldn't have made it closer at the end. Looking forward to next year already. They have a lot coming back.

don't hate. special Sunday afternoon NCAA tournament cutlets and malt beverages. rocks. it's Spring Break for me, yo. 57 degrees, sunny. windows are open, blue skies, and basketball.War Wagon wrote:The cooking forum is down the page, but my wifes' fried chicken didn't suck today either.King Crimson wrote:FWIW, my chicken cutlets with sauteed onions-fresh oregano-spicy tomato gravy are delicious.
My wife's ham balls and cheesy potatoes hit the spot today too. Beats the hell out of junk food while watching the game. Nice sunny day here that is melting what's left of Saturday's snow and it appears that spring might finally be here.King Crimson wrote:don't hate. special Sunday afternoon NCAA tournament cutlets and malt beverages. rocks. it's Spring Break for me, yo.

It was New Mexico St all over again. Did it without a back court though. Huge stones by the front line players. No way they can beat UNI without Lucas and Allen.King Crimson wrote:they nearly gagged that game.
Are they both out with injuries? We didn't get much of the game on tv here...only the last couple of minutes.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:It was New Mexico St all over again. Well, on a positive note, MGO, I think UNI is completely healthy. :) It should be a good game next Friday.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Kalin Lucas is done. Torn achilles. Chris Allen is day to day.
2 starters out. Not good. :brad:
Just block a couple of those threes and hang on for the win......or so says Kirk Ferentz.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:I just hope they can survive the onslaught of UNI's threes for the chance to get molested by Ohio St in the Elite 8.
