Let's see. Injury occurs in January. Waits til May to have surgery. Why? Because the 6-8 week recovery will get him good to go just after camp breaks.

Dude doesn't even have the sack to just man up and say he does not want to go to training camp, and if the team does not like it, he's gone. Of course, that may mean a fine. Hence, all the drama.

Favre has a chance to be the first QB for throw for 70,000 yards and 500 TDs. I would be amazed if he passed on those milestones.

Especially considering the year he had last season. Oh yeah, and the chance to be the first grandpa to start an NFL game.

He's from Mississippi. Down there they're grandpas by age 30. Had to have happened already.

Even so, I said after the NFC championship game that he wouldn't be back this year. He got the fuck beat out of him and I don't think he wants another year of that. Plus, at age 40 it's entirely possible that the ankle is not healing up the way he'd like.

I'll preface this take by saying that Favre is a me-guy @sshole and I've been sick of his act for at least five years.
I don't give a shit if he plays, doesn't play, or dies in a fire.

I question whether he, at age 40, can make it through a 16 game season.
I suspect he questions it, also.

Those milestones Bri made note of - 70,000 yards and 500 TDs - can be had by playing just a handful of games.
Right now he's on 69,329 and 497.

It wouldn't surprise me to have this play out where Favre sits out the first 4-8 games of the season, claiming slow injury recovery.
He then comes back and takes over, playing the last 8-or-so games - hoping to lead the 'Queens to ultimate paydirt.

Except for the fact that they have a number of tough games in the first half of the season, and if he sits them out, they might have a tough shot at anything other than a wild card.
