Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
Last year I ran both the Pick 'em game and the Three Best Bets game.
I'm not interested in running both games this season, but will volunteer to do the Three Best Bets game.
We had no Confidence Game last season for the first time in a few years, and that was too bad.
If someone wants to take up the slack and do the Pick 'em game this season, have at it.
And if someone wants to do a Confidence Game, that'd be very cool, too.
I know 'zilla intends to run a Pick 'em game at Yahoo, but I strongly recommend we keep a Pick 'em game here on site.
Anyone?

Re: Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
I can handle the pick 'em and confidence games...
Re: Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
I'll get the smack out of the way first ...
Yes, you handled just the Pick 'em game a few years back, and the way you did so would have made Joe Pisarcik proud.
Well, thanks for stepping up, Shoalz.
It's good by me.
I will say, however, that you might consider having someone take one of those games off your hands.
As I ran two games last year it was pretty time-consuming, and the confidence game really does take more time than the others.
Personally, I can't imagine wanting to run both the Pick 'em and the Confidence game.
But if you're up for it, it's cool with me.

Been a long time since I have been on the boards, but god dammit I'm back, ready for the picks game again. Count me in Poptart.

Love that pool, count me in!poptart wrote:but will volunteer to do the Three Best Bets game.
Dtownmike over at TheTroll.net was going to set up some pools in yahoo, I was just going post an invite over here for people to join. It would be kinda cool to have competition between the two boards.poptart wrote:I know 'zilla intends to run a Pick 'em game at Yahoo, but I strongly recommend we keep a Pick 'em game here on site.
I’ll put my picks in at both places.
Thanks Shoalzie you’ve always done a great job with the poolsShoalzie wrote:I can handle the pick 'em and confidence games...
If you combine both pools it will make it a lot easier for you, meaning those who want to play “Confidence” puts the confidence points next to their picks and those who want to play “Pick’em” has no points next to their picks. In other words all players that make picks will be in the “Pick’em” and only those who put confidence points next to their picks will be in both. Thank you both for stepping up!
Oh, and welcome back rnarn, it’s been a long time.
Re: Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
Assuming someone else can lock my contest threads when I'm down at the lake, I'll take care of the confidence game.
Re: Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
Hey rnarn, good to see you back!
LONG time.
'Zilla, thanks for the suggestions.
You and Luther hang out at the lake, orc?
Hippie van?
Sounds great to me if you want to take the confidence game off Shoalz' shoulders.

Re: Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
Are we running them here or in the NFL Picks forum?
Honestly, the two games can be handled simultaneously but if someone wants to one or the other, don't let me stand in your way.

Lucky fucker, the lakes around me are like puddles you stepped in on the way home from school. How does Table Rock compare to LOTO?
Re: Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
It's a corps lake, so you don't have the sprawl of docks, houses, condos and restaurants all right on the water.
There are pockets of big boats that really don't belong on a lake, but they are the exception for the most part, and not the norm.
Lastly, if you throw a match onto the water, it won't ignite and burn for days.
I've lived on both lakes over the years. While LOZ is definitely a much better lake for nightlife and stumbling upon hordes of drunk people screwing, I much prefer the option to the south.
Even on 4th of July weekend, I was able to fish for a couple daylight hours before getting overrun by every other boat imaginable.

Options galore in that neck of the Show Me when it comes to beautiful Lakes.I much prefer the option to the south.
And beautiful rivers.... and hotass wimmen folk who will show you their glorious bosom for a string of colored beads.

Re: Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
Here are the yahoo pools set up at TheTrolls.net…I plan on putting my picks in here and there, if nothing else I will be able to cross check my scores to help Shoalzie and tilikum with their scoring
I’m sure I can talk HockeyMom into running a survivor pool here
Regular Pick 'em:
Group ID#: 4183
Password: thetrolls
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/pickem
________________________________________________________________________
Confidence Pick'em
Group ID#: 4188
password: rackthetrolls
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com ... /joingroup
________________________________________________________________________
Survival pool:
Group ID#: 1685
password: surviver
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/survival
(yes, the password is spelled wrong because yahoo wouldn't let Mike go back and correct it)
________________________________________________________________________
Hope to see you all get in yahoo also

Re: Picks Game - just to get a jump on things
Okay, just making sure before we get rolling on the season next week...I'm on the straight up pick 'em and tilikum is on the confidence game?
I'll post Week 1 this Sunday night but on most weeks, I'll post each on Tuesday mornings along with the results from the week before.

Sounds right, Shoalzie.
Suggestion: You might put a thread up in both the Cul de Smack and the College Football Forum to let people there know you are running an NFL Pick 'em Game.
Then when you post week one's games in here, I'd update the threads in the Cul and the CFB forum to let folks know it's time to get to pickin'.
For what it's worth.

We already had someone step up to take the confidence picks and I haven't done the pick 'em game in a couple years...I want another crack at it.

I'll post them here but if you want to move the thread into the Picks forum after the week is over feel free to move it to reduce clutter in here. I'll keep the standings in here as well and I'll post each week's results in the same thread and the season standings will always be in the first post.

Keep the weekly thread global...that way everyone can get to it. I'll post the standings in the NFL forum though. Thanks!
