Houston has a damn balanced offense and they are a solid team.
Even without their stud receiver and their #1 runner out for qtr #1, they rolled.
This is going to be my last post about the Raiders for a while.
We gave up 250 yds rushing yesterday.
2nd time we've given up over 200 yds rushing this season, despite doing our "best" to upgrade our front 7.
Some Raider numbers to look at.
We've played 116 games since our loss to Tampa Bay in the 2003 Super Bowl.
In those 116 games we've played, we've given up 100 yds rushing 90 times.
We've given up over 150 yds 50 times.
We've given up over 200 yds 21 times.
We've given up over 250 yds 6 times.
We let someone truck us for 300 yds rushing 1 time.
77% of the time, the opposition has gained over 100 yds on the ground v. us.
Approaching 50% of the time they have gone over a buck-fitty on us.
Approaching 20% of the time we've been hammered for 200+.
Think of that - almost 1 out of every 5 games we've played has seen the opposition go over 200 yds on the ground.
Look, other teams prolly have guys sitting around the lockerroom yukking it up about past nightmare games - saying shit like, "Oh fuck, remember back in '04, that game against Green Bay, when they ran all day on us and put up 208 yds. HOLE EEE FUCK, that was pitiful!!!"
But for us, it has happened 3 times a year. LMAO
It's coaching.
Yes.
And it's culture, too.
We can piddle around and move the lawn chairs here and there - and add to them - but it'll be the same ol' until some REAL change takes place.
Al started to lose his grip on the football operation around the early '90's, imo.
Since that time, the only period of time when things REALLY got on track here were during the four years of Gruden and Gannon.
Because I think that's what it takes to swim upstream in Oakland and get anything done.
A screamer coach - who is actually also capable, and ...
A screamer QB - who is also actually capable.
With that, you can maybe drag enough guys along and have them be accountable in order to really WIN in the Oakland enviorment.
I'm sick of caring about this bullshit any longer.
The organization doesn't deserve fans as good as Raider fans are.
I like some of our current players and think we DO have some good ones.
But I don't believe at all that we're going anywhere right now.
We've got the "screamer" QB - but he's really Gannon Light.
He doesn't possess Rich's game.
We have no coach right now.
Cable isn't winning anything in Oakland.
Just calling that as I see it.
Another week-or-so and our defense will get trucked again.
"Oh yeah ... but what if Murphy had made that catch??"
Yeah, I'll tell ya what.
If we somehow would have scored a TD, Jano would have missed the extra point.
It's the Raider culture.
Or if he would have made the PAT, we would have lost the coin flip - more Raider culture - and watched Houston run down our throat for 7 carries for 55 yds - line it up and watch them boot it through the uprights for the W.
This is the '97 team all over again - coached by Joe Bugel.
Stats can look ok, some of the games can be close, we'll win a few - but we're losers.
I'm just sick of the shit and won't be commenting much on anything from here on out until the organization can REALLY give me a reason to support it.
I've seen WAY more than enough.
