Three Best Bets - Week Seven Results, Week Eight Games

Post by poptart »

Fans, a handful of people have expressed that they don't like the Yahoo (or any moving line) page, don't "get" it, find it difficult, hate it, think it sucks, or ... other.
And we had ucant try to pull his squirrely little maneuver this week.
And then of course we have Wagon, who admitted that he doesn't even use the Yahoo lines, but instead uses the trusty KC Star sportspage lines - in clear violation of the rules - and I OUGHT to disqualify him.
haha

So in the spirit of "the customer is always right," we will no longer be using the Yahoo page.

Hey, I personally think you must have some sort of mental deficiency if the page, and/or format, troubles you somehow, but hey... that's me.
You understand that in REAL betting, the lines move throughout the week.
Dumbshits.

So anyway, I will post one line for all the games here in this thead on Tuesday morning.
*NOTE* that I will *UPDATE* the lines one time during the week - on Thursday.
The lines (some or most of them) which we currently see will CHANGE on that day.
So if you want to lock in a line that looks delicious early in the week, go for it - before it perhaps changes later in the week.

That's what we're doing from here on out.

Weekly results and updated standings are posted below - as well as the Tuesday lines for this week's games.

I think we do understand this. It's just that most of us aren't monitoring these books 24X7 waiting for a line to to move to our liking before pouncing on it.

I don't think anyone found your format to be troubling, it's just that your limited rules were open to interpretation. I've seen numerous peeps wagering on all sorts of different lines that didn't necessarily sync up to what any book had listed at the time of their post, therefore, I determined your game must allow for people to look at the line history and cherrypick to their liking. Apparently that's not the case and that's fine. I dont' think anyone is going to lose any sleep over this...

However, like I suggested, having everyone use the same line like a "poptartsportsbook.com" is the only allowable spread would level the playing field. Nothing wrong with that either.

Whatever you want to do. It's your game.

ucant makes a good point. The way it was set up works great as long as everyone’s on the same page, that’s asking a lot and who is going to make sure every bet at the time it was put in is legit? Not me not you not anyone.
Bottom line this pool is kinda like golf, everyone should police himself or herself, there is nothing to gain from cheating.

Rack poptart for all the extra work he’ll have to do for the new rule change and rack him for trying to please the masses! I would have just told anyone who didn’t like it to fuck off.

If the reason for the change is people found the yahoo lines “difficult” they should not be in the pool to begin with!

I didn't monitor all the picks that were being made.
I just assumed I wasn't dealing with a group of football novices who didn't realize that you can't roll into Caesar's Palace on Friday, lay down your money, and tell the dude you want to play the line that you saw ... on Tuesday.

Give that a try and let me know how it works out for ya.

I also hoped we weren't going to have anyone trying to cheat and get over.
It's not a friggin' cayesh game, anyway.
Just for shits and giggles.

It's my mistake for not realizing that Murphy's Modified Law would be in effect here.

That is, wherever people can be fucktards, they will be fucktards.

At any rate, now those why want the one solid line have it.
And they're going to get their (Dallas -11) type line(s) from time-to-time - which is already down to like (-7) most places I look now.
Of course I could do like ucant suggested and wait to post the lines until Thursday - after the injury report comes out - but then we'd no doubt have people whining about not being able to post their picks early in the week.

Whatever, fucktards.

It's rolling this way for the rest of the season.

Done deal.

By telling you that linking to an off board site with multiple, moving lines was unmanageable and inaproppriate for this format. At the least, you're naive to think that would ever work. At worst, pretty damned stupid.

Yeah, buncha' few fucktards up in this bitch.

Yet you changed the rules anyway, to molify those few you call a fucktard who gently, gently tried to get you to see the light.

Who's the fucktard, fucktart?

You were a fucktard because the use of the Yahoo page itself was somehow perplexing to you.

So instead of sitting out the game because it was too difficult for you, you cheated and used the lines from your local newspaper.

When I read that similar complaint (that the Yahoo page was difficult) from a couple other posters, I seriously sat and looked at the page for a few minutes and tried to understand what was difficult about it.

I didn't find any problem.

But the complaining persisted.

People trying to cheat and get over?

Yeah, I admit it was my mistake to go with a system where a fucktard can be a fucktard.

Gotta tighten it up and keep adults on a leash, lest they shit all over the place.

I've now learned.

No, it's not perplexing. It's unnecessary... and stupid. Your attitude and ignorance, however, is perplexing.
you cheated and used the lines from your local newspaper.
I didn't cheat. I don't cheat.

The lines posted in the KC Star on Sunday morning are essentially the same as what can be found on Yahoo. Or anywhere else.
I've now learned.
Apparently not.

Being able to play multiple lines was what made this game worth playing. It worked for 2 years until you and UCant decided to tard the place up. Now you fucking wrecked the best game on this board. Props to you I guess.

Not really. Not unless they are updated in something approximating real time.

Sure Bri... keep your options open.

Fuck, even Jsc knew a rotten set-up when he saw it. I guess you can also blame him.

Nothing's ruined. Stick a sock in your bleeding gash for at least one more week.

Poptart,

Why not use this site if the tards can't understand Yahoo's substandard yet not wholly unreadable HTML?

http://www.covers.com/odds/football/nfl-spreads.aspx

The shit is updated every 2 minutes with the latest lines. And you can pull a line history on any game if there is any question about what the correct line and time is.

Otherwise, fuck it. Let the tards have their dumbed down game.

B, thanks.
I've considered the whole situation, including the link you posted, and will run the game as I noted earlier in this thread.
One universal line posted here and then updated once (Thursday) each week.

I've already said more than I wanted to, or probably should have, about this.

I'll be glad to pass the game off to you next season and you can run it how you want to at that time.

I don't think anyone wrecked anything. All I ever said was, based upon what I saw other people doing, I thought the rules were open to interpretation. All pops had to do was put his foot down and say, "no asshat... what you did violated the spirit of my game" and I am fairly certain it would have ended there. We've done a pretty good job of policing ourselves since the game's inception. People have pushed the envelope before and people have also flat out posted incorrect lines. In every case, a decision was made and we all moved on. Why does this have to be any different?

I was fine with leaving the game the way it was, however, I offered up the suggestion because I know this isn't the first time someone's had a question. Instead of simply answering the question, pops allows himself to be dragged down into the muck with you and Wagon... now there's a whole lot of name calling and bad blood. I apologize for the role I played in this, however, I think I've handled myself in a calm, cool, and collected manner throughout this... discussion. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for everyone else.

Welcome to the board.

I called you and Wagon fucktards.

A couple of days later it'll be out of my mind - and the three of us will probably all be calling someone else a fucktard.

And so it goes.
