Let me sum up my points in this thread:

1 - Yes, Boise may get an undeserved shot at a MNC this coming season if they go undefeated.

2 - Hopefully, VaTech can take them out so we don't have to put up with them claiming they "deserve a shot" after playing the shit teams they play in their conference.

3 - Boise would be a mid-pack team in any BCS conference. They don't have the athletes to make it thru a real conference schedule.

4 - Boise could have beaten Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, or whoever last year. Yes, they could win a game like that after playing their pissant schedule. I doubt they would have...but they could have.

5 - Anybody who has watched any college football knows that Boise could not compete...with the athletes they currently have...week after week in a major conference.

6 - I'm in too good a mood to continue this BS about BSU any more.

I would agree with Sam that an undefeated Boise St still wouldn't deserve to play for the title. They may get to anyway, but they wouldn't deserve it.

I don't feel that holds true for teams in the MWC. TCU deserved it last year every bit as much as Texas. The WAC, though, it really is that weak. Last year, Boise had a one-game schedule, and it was a home game, OOC. This year, they have a two-game schedule, and they're both OOC.

Many teams have only a one-game schedule, like Florida last year, or even a no-game schedule, like Texas last year, but when a team can rightfully pencil in an undefeated season nearly every year in conference play - and that conference never does shit OOC - yeah, that team has not earned the right to play for a title.

Year in, year out, Boise's schedules have simply afforded them no opportunities to be truly tested, the way a national title aspirant ought to be. Even this year, simply beating perennially overrated Va Tech and perennially schizo Oregon St really won't be some enormous barrier cleared.

Pitting TCU against Boise in last season's Fiesta was truly fucked for college football.

i don't think bsu will actually get past both vatech and osu. if they do and finish out undefeated i see no reason why they shouldn't get a chance to play for the mnc if everyone else has already lost a game. the bcs is a farse, and you fools talk out both sides of your ass when you [1] bitch about lack of playoff and one hand but [2] act like boise state in the bcs game would be any less legitimate than, say, a two-loss lsu team getting to play ohio state rather than the 17 other two-loss teams that year.

the only other thing i insist on is that boise state would finish in the top half of every bcs conference. despite their lack of talent, or whatever sam/mace insist on, they've beaten legitimate teams rather than just steal a win here or there against bcs also-rans. coaching, yes, but at some point the pac 10 champs of the world should be able to just line up and run all over you, right?

Remember, OS has the Dr Jeckyll/Coach Riley thing going, and weeks1-3 you're not playing the same team as the rest of the season.

The prevailing theory is Riley makes things way too complicated way too early, and it takes them 3 weeks to start playing Rileyball (might be even worse this year with a brand new QB... haven't head if Lyle Moevao is going to get the medical redshirt/grayshirt thingy, but probably not).

I predict my Hokies will beat your Smurfs?. My Hokies hung with the Champs until late in the fourth on the back of an always stellar Defense and a freshman RB. That is all. The offense will be a shitload better this year and I am always confident in the D. Plus, it is basically a home game. The Hokies will lose this year, but it will not be to Boozey State. It will be to some shit team like UNC or Miami.
