1948 -First WS I saw on TV. Feller lost both his games, one to Johnny Sain, the other to Warren Spahn. Saw Satchel Paige pitch a little.

RIP the heater from Van Meter. One of my uncles played Legion ball against Feller back in the 30's and said he'd never seen anything like Feller's fastballs. Feller"s catcher at that time was Nile Kinnick, the 1939 Heisman winner. Not a bad battery.

One of if not the greatest pitcher ever.
How many wins does this guy pile up without giving up a nice chunk of his prime to military service? Well over 300.
Put him on the yanks instead of the indians and he likely goes over 400.
Dude was easily over 100 mph back in the day.
With today's training techniques and uhhh, supplements, he'd prolly throw 110.

I saw Spahn pitch in 1963 (could have been '62) against the Giants at Candlestone, the first MLB game my dad took me to. Those old time pitchers were amazing. Spahn was 23-7, 2.60 with 22 complete games when he was 42 years old.
Feller pitched 371 innings with 36 complete games in '46.
