Lane Kiffin - Not too bright, and still running his mouth

Post by Killian »

You would think that Lane Kiffin would be a little more quiet given his lack of success as a head coach, but I guess not. And while it was likely said to inspire and fire up his recruiting class, if I were him I wouldn't be going around telling anyone that he will never lose to Notre Dame again.

Party on, Lane. I'm sure after you fail at USC you'll land as Head Coach taking over for Bill Belicheck.

Yeah, good call. Punching posts out on my Blackberry typically leads to some boners like that.

Carroll only lost to the golden molesters once and by a wider margin that last years team did, why shouldn't Lane try to do what his predecessor did? Charlie Weiss said that he was going to beat USC, never happened. I would like to have seen Lane beat them first before saying he would never lose to them again but if he is trying to rally his troops, better to call out a has been program thats going nowhere than someone like Oregon or Stanford

What's your point about Carroll? He didn't have a scholarship RB to play ND in '01. Kiffin had a wealth of talent.

Oregon may stay at the top for awhile, but I doubt Stanford will. And you might want to look in the mirror before you start throwing out "has been".

So Kiffin is a slimmer, dumber Charlie Weis. I'm fine with that.

wealth of talent? USC had 55 healthy players on scholarship at the start of the season, by the time the domers came to town they were down to backups everywhere including at QB and thats on a team of 55 players.

If USC only wins 3 games this season or next under lane, then he is as dumb as Weiss

And where were those guys ranked in HS? Mustain was a 5 star. RoJo and that FR (Woods?) were backups? Gallipo? Smith? Perry?

And it would be Kiffin's 3rd year if he lost 9 games. I bet after 3 years Weis and Kiffin will have similar records.

Kiffeykins is the Greg Robinson of head coaches. Fails, gets a better job. Fails, gets an even better job. Yeah, he'll probably get fired from USC and then be hired in New England.

A few questions:

1. With Jeff Fisher now suddenly available, any chance that USC brings him home and sends the Kitten packing?

2. What's with the recruiting this year? I know that eight of their incoming recruits can be applied to other classes (early entries), but that still leaves 17 verbals. I thought the terms of their probation limited them to 15 schollies this year?

The recruiting sanctions don’t go into effect until after the NCAA rules on USC’s appeal. It’s actually a good strategy for USC to take as many as they can and keep them as close to the 85 limit as possible. They will either win the appeal and have the sanctions reduced, or they will have a bunch of kids they can redshirt to keep them going through the next 3 years.

I would have thought Kiffin would have stocked up on the line positions, but their OL class is terrible. But offensive line is supposedly the strongest it’s been in years in the state of California.

the 2012 OL class in California will be the strongest it has been in years, the 2011 class of HS OL in the state is one of the weakest in years, not a 5* OL in the state in 2011, Niklas is a 4* and USC is still after him.
Next years class has Armstead already a 5* and USC commit, Peat from Tempe who has close ties to USC and Tagaloa who is a 4* and will come down to USC or Cal. There is also a 4* guard out at Crespi that USC is an early leader on.
