Are there exceptions to certain rules in life?

Post by Go Coogs' »

My uncle, a veteran of the Houston police department for over 28 years, has seen it all. He's been in a shootout, seen dead bodies, talked a teen out of possible suicide, been into a scrap with a man who was high on coke, and seen his partner get shot.

This is a true man I'm talkin' about here (sup Scotty); however, his one fatal flaw in life is the accessory he sports around his waste. Yes, its a fanny pack. I know we can all agree that under no circumstances should a man ever dawn such a symbol of faggotry, but what if the contents of the fanny pack was an XD .40mm and a Kershaw buck knife?

Is that the exception to the rule? Yes? No? Maybe?

What other exceptions are out there for other situations?

If you're a teacher and you are required to carry one on field trips to carry Epi-pens for bee stings or hold asthma medicine, etc. for the tardlettes.

Kershaw is not too far from me, here in the Knife Capital -- I ave a coupeof sweet high-end Kershaw products (RACK their yearly warehouse sale, pennies on the dollar). Gerber and Benchmade are in the area too (Gerber is a few blocks from home).

I have a buddy who wears one of the fannypacks you speak of -- has the big tear-open compartment in the back for the .45. I guess that takes some of the edge off the fagbag.

Yeah..a .45...what a nice easy carry piece for every day use. Nothing screams concealed weapon like fanny pack. Granted a .45 is nice if the threat resembles a fucking bull moose close in but really ?

In our family, there are 2 .380 pocket pistols, a Tarus compact.40, and a Glock 17 in 40. All easily carried with out fanny packs. The women carry S&W ultra lite 38's..one in a purse and the other under the shirt on the belt.

A very well prepared family. 2 AR platforms, 3 nice H & K's, and a bad ass Sig. And of course in front the chick with the ever dependable Kalashnikov AK- 47. Don't get that short barrel, but it don't matter....with 7.62 mm coming out of it, she is going to fuck shit up close in with that thing.

Of course, a bit under armed compared to us, and only one of boys rides a Harley...but props to them for being prepared.

It's an AKS-74U in 5.45mm.

You really are a bright one I see....no fanny pack you fucking idiot..fanny packs are for those who want to tell the world..I am carrying a gun. One Tarus .380 in a pocket holster works just fine for me. Unless I am going a distance, then I will probably drop the Ruger Mini 14 in the pickup with me.

Go ahead and become a statistic..the board will thank you for it.

No doubt. It's basically a submachine gun that fires a rifle's round.

The thing that looks weird to me is Grandma Harley's piece. Look at the magazine. No way that holds .223 or 5.56. It looks like it's chambered for 9mm or some other kind of pistol round. I've never heard of that.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a .22LR conversion kit.

A friend had an AC556 (full auto Mini 14), and a 22LR conversion kit (not much to it -- if I remember, it's an adapter for the reciever and different mags) was a MUCH more cost-effective method of spraying lead for kicks.

Also -- a friend of mine (who has a crazy gun collection) ju7st bought a... I think's it's a S&W that's pretty much a AR knockoff. One of the newfangled high-accuracy .22's -- he bought it to put a removable silencer on (sidenote -- I'm told that for supersonic rounds, there's no such thing as a "silencer" -- it's a "supressor").

And I guess MGO is city boy, through and through. Dude, bumping around the rural parts of Western Oregon (or anywhere else in rural Oregon) without iron isn't usually your best strategy.

What Dins said. It is probably the SW 22..a AR type platform chambered for 22. The double stack clip probably holds a shit ton of rounds, it could be one of the conversion kits for the AR chamber to allow practice with out draining your bank account on the cost of the 5.56 rounds, unless you reload, still pretty spendy.

Do not discount the .22 inside of a 100 yards,it is one effective weapon. But looking at the MP 15-22,

Image

it is not that, so mv may be right in a pistol caliber round..or I am thinking it is the conversion kit for the .223 gun.

The SW real nice gun for under $ 650 at the last gun show I saw.

Nice of them to make the threaded barrel standard.

A high-end silencer makes the bolt louder than the bullet. Makes suburban backyard shooting easier.

Very popular and highly concealable.. I have the Tarus LCP.I carry it in a leather pocket holster dropped in my right back pocket, right where I would have to get my wallet if being robbed. 6+1..don't think you are going to hit anything beyond about 25 yards max. Still a potent punch with a 90 grain bullet.

Image

My son has a comparable Ruger..Ruger, Kel Tec are all nice guns under $ 300. I see these being sold by the carload at gun shows.

You can move up a bit to the Kahr, and Sig Sauer...stepping up to about $ 500 to $ 700 dollars there..

Nice to see a company that understands it customers desires and makes it happen out of the box. Of course, most customers so inclined are running to their local gunsmith to have the mods made, after the first couple of clips.

The underground gun smithing thing here is Western Oregon is awesome..or so I have heard

He's doing it all legally... give the feds enough $$$, and you can have all sorts of goodies.

Some outfit in Wilsonville does all sorts of crazy suppressors/silencers.

He was thinking about doing a .223, but decided ammo was too expensive to get maximum enjoyment -- plus the can on a .223 is pretty huge, and it's still loud.

Roach wrote:And silencers? Jesus, the authorities come down like a pile of rocks on having them around. Better be damn careful. While you shoot it.

As mentioned, doing it legally is the way to go (and the expensive way, but if you're going to take it off your property, can avoid an expensive seizure).

I went with a guy I know out to Mountaindale (popular shooting area in the woods -- Derron knows it, I'm sure), shooting his full-auto. Everywhere the gun goes, a big stack of paperwork goes with it. Cops even grabbed it and tried to take it once... some shit like "This is going back to the station with me!" My friend's response was "I've got a pile of papers that says it's coming home with me," a battle he won.

And BTW -- fuck the movies. In my limited experience with full auto -- dump a 30-round clip (although the cycle rate on the AC556 shooting 22LR was very very fast... he was going to get a different recoil spring for the 22LR, don't know if he ever did), even from the hip at your target... and you hit it at least a couple of times... no ifs, ands, or buts. Even at a distance, even with .22LR. Guys in the movies, running from cover-to-cover while dodging machine gun fire... ain't happening.
